Going on first impressions, FGO is far more obtuse and needlessly complicated. Also haven't got to the point where there's any variety to the gameplay or clear reason as to why someone would ever spend a dime on the game. My character is about level 8 or so.

Anyone else try out FGO and come out very disappointed?

I'm not even judging the story and battle mechanics depth yet since I need more time to understand it, but for the supposed "king of gachas" and for how much people have been hyping this up I'm very underwhelmed. Makes me appreciate FEH a lot more if this is what the other gachas are like

Keep at it, Rein is your carry and everyone else exists to block for him. Reposition is the key to it all really, it allows Rein to hop in and get a kill and then another unit can pull him out without putting themselves in range for a counter.

Some of the maps this week in particular are pretty awkward for horses though if you're having issues in the arena.

Because Gacha hates me. I got 3 Marias and another Lach instead of best sister Elise. Normally I would just level things up normally then combine them, but since healers really have no good skills to grind so for and it is super easy, should I just make a mega Maria and combine them all right away?

That would be interesting, a rotating 'shop' of 1 or 2 star heroes. I'd make them fairly expensive and maybe monthly (we already get weekly free heroes) but set it up so that if you bought a character, when they rotated back in six months later you could buy a second copy (unlike the current 'special battles' setup).

Having more banners you don't care for means you can save up more orbs. Better to go into it with hundreds rather than just 5.

This is the most consistent source of orbs I know of, and you can adjust it accordingly.

The arena ones depend on what tier you're in. I'm content with just swapping between 18 and 17, so I get 3 orbs demoting from 18 to 17 and 4 orbs by promoting.

Monthly quests are actually 22 total but I can't really do the flier or armor 10th stratum quests, you change that depending on how many of the missions you can do.

The banners are actually depending on if it's a paralogue or story quests. Paralogues are only 3 maps with 3 difficulties and 3 lunatic quests for 12 orbs, story maps are 5 maps with 5 difficulties and 5 lunatic quests for 20 orbs.

Tempest is assuming it becomes a monthly thing and the orbs are only considering the ones before the 50k mark, there's 15 more after that if you want to go for those.

There's still a lot of other ways they can give us free orbs, so consider it a blessing in disguise that you have to wait for your waifu. Of course if you roll on every banner ever and complain when you have no orbs that's your own fault.
