Which one is the best metroidvania?

The story for Hollow Knight fell a little flat, and I thought the ending where he dies is unsatisfactory.

Bought both, instantly fell in love with Hollow Knight but it's kicking my ass. Ori grew on me, easier to plow through. I don't understand why people say Ori isn't technically a metroidvania, though I heard the original edition is more like level-based than the DE is with backtracking which makes sense. Ori is definitely shorter and much much easier but also more relaxing. Hollow Knight feels like you get much more bang for your buck.
