Played through the first episode recently. Already wondering why it's not just a movie instead. So far, the tone and MC seem incredibly normie, almost to the point of parody. Indie acoustic guitar music and all. Blue-haired chick seems to be the only person with a personality so far; she's pretty alright, weird opinions on gun control not withstanding. Also, the constant Square Enix shilling is pretty distracting.

Still seems interesting though. Will continue to at least see where it goes.

Am I the only one who enjoyed the game while playing it only to end up disliking it once beating it? I don't know, after beating it and thinking on it some it was honestly quite stupid. There's still some charm to it, but holy shit some of the writing is terrible. Chloe is one of the worst characters in a vidya that I've ever seen.

There's two problems when discussing this game.

The biggest problem is it's written badly and the devs had no idea what they wanted to do.

The second problem is that they ran out of money.

A bonus third problem with this discussion in particular is that after Baterson shoots Chloe in the head and kills her the storm is still happening. The storm wasn't born because Chloe had to die, it was born because an 18 year old hipster lesbian started fucking with the fabric of time.

When you think about it sacrificing the town was a better choice, because it wasn't Chloe that the storm was after, it was Max.

I chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay but I can easily admit that it's the inferior ending. Both endings are trash but at least sacrificing Chloe is an actual ending with emotional payoff.

Episode 5 is just bafflingly stupid in general though, the fact that Max doesn't even attempt to use her powers to go back and evacuate the town makes the final choice feel cheap and unnecessary.

The only three redeemable people in the town anyway are Kate, David, and Chloe's mom. We know that Kate and David live in the sacrifice town ending, and the devs themselves confirmed Kate lives because she's in a totally different city in a major hospital, and it's easy to say David lives because he goes down to Jefferson's bunker and takes him down regardless. Then some truckers and Chloe's old drug dealer also leave or already left the town.

The only speculative person is Chloe's mom who may or may not be dead, but the point is not everyone in the town died.
