Thing is, the new Mario on Switch doesn't appeal to me much. And I find that strange. Super Mario 3D World on Wii U was just about perfect to me, and the fact that they're ignoring that great single player and great couch co-op approach is really disappointing.

It was exactly what I always imagined a 3D mario should be, especially with the great couch co-op for multiple players not just one or two. It was perfect. And we've completely abandoned this model, this approach and perspective. Not just the co-op but the presentation and visuals. It was a joy to look at and play. I'm really sad there's no continuation of this on the Switch.

Ugh no. I like the Switch's concept but its far from being the "main console." You're still going to need a PS4, or PC to play the majority of 3rd party games being released.

Nintendo's starting to catch up though and if the Switch continues to build its base(which it will since it will surpass the Wii U by the end of this year), it could eventually get a sizable amount of third parties with Jap devs and western indies. It might even get a few AAA western games too but don't hold your head too high as its unlikely games like "Athem" willl be playable in the Switch in the first place unless EA made seperate port for it(like they did with Fifa 18).

The Switch is admittedly the most potent handheld out there but not all of the AAA titles will work on it. Better to have a PC/PS4 as backup alongside with the Switch just incase.

Yeah I don't see most of those titles coming out for it except maybe the Tom Clancy titles, Need for Speed, and eventually COD(or Battlefield, whichever devs want to jump into the Switch wagon first). Of course all of these games could be "special versions" that would compromise one feature in exchange for another(to make use of the Switch unique controlls).

If the Switch could run Skyrim, it can theoretically play GTA 5 but it would have to be the PS3 version or something in between the PS3/PS4 version and would have to be well optimized. Assuming Nintendo's game cartridges could only hold 29 GB, some features would have to be taken out, particularly the GTA Online would have to be removed in order to make the base game playable. I'd be interested to see a GTA game like that playable but GTA 5 has been around for a while, its unlikely Rockstar is going to aim for a port unless the Switch's base dramatically increases.

Its extremely unlikely though that GTA 6 will ever be playable on the Switch as Rockstar tends to be over-ambitious with their games(with GTA 5 by default already being around 50-100 GB depending what version of it you're playing).

What are you on about?

Super Mario 3D World is the only one that's ever played or looked like that. That's why it's so exceptional. Nothing prior or since is like it. If anything the reason I don't care about the new Mario on Switch is because it looks and seems to play so much like every other 3D mario in existence that is not Super Mario 3D World.

3D world plays exactly the same as Galaxy and Galaxy 2 - just with less spheres and more planes - these games are directly modelled after the course-clear and linear level ideals of Super Mario Bros.
Odyssey plays like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, of which there are no other mario games like it.

For the course clear games, we've had Galaxy, Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros U, New Super Luigi Brothers, 3D World and several 3DS games.

There have been over 7 'course clear' games in a row now, Nintendo thinks it's time to bring out the real 3D games again and I couldn't agree more.
