I really liked it; I even played Risky's Revenge and Pirate Curse because I liked it so much, and beat all of them.

Pirates Curse is definitely the best one though, I didn't like a lot of the gimmick based levels and bosses in HGH.

I also really like Shantae's voice actor, she did a great job.

It was enjoyable but felt lacking and unfinished.

The decision to drop the dungeons in favor of separate stages with different segments wasn't a bad move, but it certainly need some improvements.

As usual the soundtrack is nice and the visuals looks good too.
They improved transformation business quite well (though I still prefer if you can just manually scroll the list of transformation than to wait).
Boss fights felt and looked nice.

I'm disappointed that the new characters doesn't have that much role and screen time. There's that much hype with the characters but there's like little interactions with them. I'm disappointed that the giant mermaid doesn't even talks to you after you saved her.
Backtracking is necessary if you want the good end (like the previous game) but backtracking in this game felt a bit tedious and boring than usual for some reason. Maybe because I don't find the secrets to feel that secret I guess.

Overall, it's decent but I wouldn't say it topped Pirate's curse. It's in 2nd place if anything. Also, when the hell can we use Risky and the other characters when? I'm tired of waiting now.

Usually because said secrets were mostly just a room blocked by a obvious animal transformation style roadblock, and only ever lead to a single room too, as opposed to a whole new section.

Honestly I hope to see a proper castlevania style game in the series. Out of all of them Pirates Curse is the closest to being a true Metroidvania.

I was somewhat disappointed by it, it was subpar by the standard the rest of your series set in terms of both the quantity and quality of content. The true ending was really weak. The final boss fight didn't change at all, and there wasn't even any indication until the very end that the anti-evil-magic thingy had worked. Risky also got away scot free as always, even when she almost destroyed an entire world. If she's gonna be that evil, she deserves more punishment than just losing and getting frustrated.
