Yes, they said that they were working on sequence where you would infiltrate Wild Hunt, but they never said it was finished (and since it was removed, it clearly wasn't). That VATS system was just an idea they had, no journalist ever saw a working version of it. In fact, if you check the leaked files for the games you can see they managed to make only couple of animations specific for that system before dropping it due to creating way more issues then it was worth. It was far from working.

If you've read the books, this scene makes no fucking sense.

For those that don't know it, the king had to fuck and impregnate Ciri, but she looked ugly to him and he was already all, very, very all, even for Elven standards.
So Eredin gives Ciri and aphrodisiac so he can get it on and end the bullshit.
The king OD's, Ciri finds him in the morning, gets frustrated cause elves suck and she is still a virgin (penis wise) and decides to leave.
While leaving, she finds Eredin and tells him that the king is dead. Eredin reaction is pretty much ''N-Nani?!'' and bangs his head against a bridge.

Eredin did nothing wrong and CDPR decided to change parts of the plot of the book so it would fit their game.
Like Emhyr wanting to impregnate Ciri and instead just banging a look-alike that is regarded as the real Cirilla anyway.

Novigrad, the quests, are pretty bland and stupid, with some minor exceptions. The city itself, pretty fucking great.
Skellige depends. I liked it. I like the setting, the quests, but many didn't.
Looking for Ciri and the battle of Kaer Morhen are fine to good.
Everything else, feel rushed and incomplete. I wouldn't say is bad, but it stinks to cut content and rushed development (the reasons of state quest is by far the worst written one of the game).
First DLC is wonderful. Top notch, Dark souls level.
Second... bad writing, great content.

Surprisingly, I think the best moments of the game are those in which the team had complete freedom (Bloody Baron and HoS). The had the setting, the had the lore, but the witcher characters limited how much they could do.

The thing that gets me is in the books all the Aen Elle elves are described as incredibly beautiful, like everyone there is an 11/10 by human standards, tall. fit, beautiful faces, perfect complexion, ect the only difference being they have pointed ears and no canine teeth and flat straight teeth, while humans are shorter with rounded ears and have canine teeth.

Ciri at first doesn't recognize the humans when she sees the Aen Elle for the first time because in their world they've been molded into this squat servant race with grey skin, she make the horrific realization late when she checks a servant girl and finds the rounded ears and canine teeth of a human. And later she finds the whole place is built on the corpses of dead humans and that these Aen Elle stole what was once a human world enslaved all the humans and twisted them like dog through centuries of selective breeding into a servile race.

The Aen Elle are unburden by defeat, they're conquerors they done this before and they plan on doing it again. They warp into dimensions kill and destroy all the natives and just take over. Yet in the game they gave them those weird cheek bones and made them look pale and sickly.

this is true, but TW3 is still a better game than Bloodborne. the problem is that TW3 is such a big game it's so easy to play "wrong." It's mean to be played with questing first and exploration happening inbetween. Smugglers cache and monster nest hunting is not fun and the game is not designed around it. So if you boot up the game and do unfun bullshit for hours, that doesn't necessarily mean that the game isn't good.

The whole open world RPG system was fucked in that game.

The biggest one though was the level locked loot and the punishments they imposed if you kill monsters and finish quests that are above your level. The whole point of an open world game is the freedom to explore and find cool shit, but in Wither 3 the game is actually painfully linear for some reason. You can go out of your way off the beaten trail and fight a monster 20 levels higher than you and despite the fact that you'll be doing like 1dmg a hit (unless you're rolling with a flamethrower minmax or some other meme build) it'll take forever to win you CAN actually win. The shitty part is though there is no point, they dock your XP and the rewards are all level locked so by the time you can use them they're worthless because you will invariably have something better specifically witcher gear which is almost always the best gear for any given level.

The confusing thing is though, despite all three of the main quest branches having distinct levels you're supposed to do them in Velen -> Novigrad -> Skellige there is no way you'd ever actually do any of it out of order because of the leveling system fighting you and punishing you for doing it out of order, not to mention all the enemies would take like 20 minutes to kill and give you jack shit for experience and loot you can't even use. But yeah, if you've got a cheese build you can go to Skellige first and skip right over the Baron and Whoreson Jr. and the game actually acknowledges it, questlines change, dialogue changes, you don't have to do things because you already have certain pieces of information. It was crazy how well this was all written this all was for something that is nearly impossible to do and next to no one is going to see. I doubt less than 1% of Witcher 3 players did Skellige first since the leveling system and level locked loot totally fucked the open world.

TW3 works for exploration, because the world is great, quests are a real mixed bag in it and they are NEVER rewarding.
TW3 needs enhanced edition bad, just like first 2 games. But it seems it's not happening ever.

it's not okay for Geralt to act like total newbie, though. He's a weathered professional, not a new kid on the block. There's the same quest in Skellige where he asks how "forest spirit" looked like when he's looking at the corpse tied in roots. You know, thing that only one type of enemy does.
Many quests were written for idiots by idiots who have no idea what's going on in Witcher universe. Same reason why Geralt often says "I could use a portal now" near edges of the map when not only it's established not only in books that Geralt hates portals and would rather ride horse for days instead, but in the damn game itself many times over.

I agree with this in the sense that Velens world design is a bit fucked by having pre-Skellige leveld content and post-Skellige leveled content available all at once. Shit should be locked until you reach a main quest marker and is revealed in a passage of time sort of way.

I think for newer players (or just people who haven't read teh books) it's hard to choose between Yen and Triss before you even get to meet Yen proper. Fuck, I waved hand to Triss hours before I was ready to go to Skellige.

And yes, no matter how big and grand Velen is, I think I'd prefer lots of White Orchard sized areas instead.

Hijacking this thread. I just completed the main story, do I play Blood and Wine or Hearts of Stone first? An anon suggested B&W first but I forgot why

Also I regret picking Triss because the story is really tailored for Geralt to be with Yennefer. Philippa's quips about it really made it obvious and Triss really feels like a third wheel for the entire arc of the game. She's a better waifu but I felt like I was robbed of the intended dynamic by choosing her. Mainly did so because Yen cheated in the lore and I enjoy Triss's VA.
