Those games have literally zero momentum. Floaty is actually a good description for how they feel to play.
>>
>>381842718
LBP is so fucking underrated.
Preludes Super Mario Maker by a decade and it's still fucking better.
MM Dreams hype just increased in my pants again.

This. I don't know why anyone who doesn't like the platforming in LBP gets labelled a Nintendofag when pretty much every other platformer does it.
Hell, I think Bubsy has momentum.
>>
>>381842794
This to be honest. I didn't even notice the gravity function was there, but little big planet will always be a failure just because you have to fix it on your own, as opposed to Super Mario Maker where it just feels right coming out of the box. And I'm a huge PS3 fag.
>>
>>381844107
>Hell, I think Bubsy has momentum.
It does, its actually pretty good and you can break it (intentionally, I think) with Bubsy's glide move. Those games are hated for some reason but really they're just uninspired.
>>
>>381843216
>>381844107
So I take it you guys (I know you're a samefag) don't play videogames. Just because you can influence your direction of travel mid air doesn't mean the game lacks "momentum" or whatever the fuck your ADHD riddled brain is trying to spew into post-form. Fucking Super Mario is just as "floaty," but I'm sure you'd call that a "tight platformer."

The game is tight as fuck. Your speed just doesn't play into how far you can jump (which doesn't mean you don't have to deal with your momentum when you wish to influence your direction mid air), which seems to be the complaint of samefags who need to gitgud.

as someone who knows biology/zoology very well and has a degree related to biomechanics, I thought it looked amazingly realistic when i just saw this. It looked much like a seal popping up on an ice flow. Do you think the seal worries about if he's stationary? no, he worries about whether he's caught a meal.

so you're barking up the wrong tree. it looks great and valid and realistic.

I don't understand what this webm is trying to demonstrate. if they are trying to show that you can control this game just fine and that common criticisms like "it feels floaty and you have no precision" are wrong well that's well and good but look how slow he plays the game. the fact that you can control it fine but it plays like molasses sort of defeats the purpose of trying to demonstrate that the game is fine. sure there are other older games that feel like that but that kind of slow movement has been abandoned by nintendo and other people who make platformers

Chaos in physics simulations like LBP is not the natural result of making simulations accurate to the real world, it's the result of having to store object data as floating point variables so that complex collisions can be resolved inexpensively. The inaccuracy is derived from the loss in granularity when performing functions between variables, resulting in rounding errors. These errors are especially evident at higher values or in more complex scenarios, where small errors can be visible or compound on each other quickly, causing unpredictable, unintuitive outcomes. If you've ever wondered why physics in open world games seem to bug out all the time, it's because the scale of the simulation means the resolution of the object values is quite low, leading to more pronounced rounding errors.

The Sedan nuclear test in 1962 left a crater 100 meters deep with a diameter of 390 meters from the detonation of a hydrogen bomb with a yield of 104 kilotons placed 194 meters below ground. The blast moved 11,000,000 tons of material.

Japan/Area
145,932 mi2

yes 960 kiloton nukes at giving you the incredibly generous linear prediction of creating a 1.1km crater each for a total area of 1056km of crater

so yes 960 1kiloton nuclear bombs, resulting in a crater area of ~1,000km2, would completely eradicate the nation of japan which is 234,854km2 off the earth. especially considering that japan is a giant mountain chain and most of the country is like half a mile above sea level.

kill yourself.

For fusion bombs, the fission is just a primer.

From everything I've read on Fusion bombs, which admittedly isn't a lot, the actual trigger is caused by heat chemically transforming material on the inside to start the fusion reaction. I would assume as long as you have enough energy, you can set off a hydrogen bomb, regardless of the source.

Not at all, I genuinely enjoyed playing LBP with my friends. The best part of the game is clearly the visual design in general and the creativity of some people on the internet. Discovering new levels, seeing a clever use of some elements, etc... It's just that the platformer part of this game is clearly uninteresting, that doesn't make LBP a bad game.

Let'sI think about it, the best levels ever created in LBP were in general not the ones with the most platforming parts.

You're an idiot. That's to INITIATE A CHAIN REACTION. If you're blowing up a nuke using regular explosions, then it won't work. If you're blowing up a nuke by throwing it into another nuke, it makes a bigger nuke. You're a fucking tard.
>>
>>381854543
>If you're blowing up a nuke using regular explosions, then it won't work

LBP is essentially a horribly bland physics platformer wrapped around a neat little modular game engine. Look up any list of best levels from those games and they'll all have nothing to do with guiding a floppy little piece of shit around a bunch of boxes.

That said, the things people can make in it IS impressive considering how it was done, but it's mostly all just aping better games.

I think it has more to do with error introduced by grid resolution in the discretized form of the truncated taylor series of the ODEs and PDEs required to simulate the mechanics of a physical system on the computer than it has to do with rounding errors. If you've got a second order PDE you need to solve to simulate the motion of an object, for instance a 1-D harmonic oscillator, a naive discrete approximation will yield an error term of orders h^2 and higher where h is your lattice spacing, and h will be quite large for a videogame simulation's purposes for the sake of speed.

cops do not have to train in martial arts or shooting. every cop should have to train and condition like the military does and practice jujitsu/judo/grappling so that they can end a physical confrontation without having to resort to shooting, tazing, or beating with night club, but I guess that would actually take effort and sweat for most amerifats.

>how is that any different from devil may cry?
Never played Devil May Cry, what's your point?

It is never necessariy to use those gadgets since you are never actually in danger in those games. And I am not even complaining about difficulty. I am talking about mechanical depth that is lacking. Even later on when the knife guys or the electric enemies are introduced, there is no increase in mechanical depth. Having some auto-aim gadgets that stun an enemy while you can mash X on the rest of them is not mechanical depth, it is tacked on. Your positioning, dodging and countering, the meat of the combat, lack all sense of decision-making. When you dodge, there is no thought put into the direction or the timing, since your dodge will always work and even cancel your previous inputs so you don't have to comit to the punches you throw.

Sure, there is some skill ceiling in keeping a combo up. But a combo counter tacked onto a lackluster combat system does not make the core mechanics of said combat system more interesting.

LBP does have momentum, it's just the natural movespeed of sacknigger is so slow you can't really tell and once it gets over his natural max movespeed you basically lose control of him until you slow down. You also gain speed during a jump which means you almost never have to get a run up. That's why most people call it floaty and imprecise. Which it technically is because of those reasons.
But the level editor is the main reason to play it, rather than the platforming, so it doesn't really matter.

But you aren't. You can get out of any situation by dodging over people, and you can counter 70% of the shit people throw at you by hitting counter when you see the attack animation. Add on top of that that there is never an instance of more than two people attacking you at once.

>But you aren't. You can get out of any situation by dodging over people, and you can counter 70% of the shit people throw at you by hitting counter when you see the attack animation.
Just like Souls except here you dont have i-frames for extra easy babby mode.

I don't know. Like I said, I never played DMC. What's with the fixation on that game?

>>381880030
>Just like Souls except here you dont have i-frames for extra easy babby mode.
But atleast the dodging in Souls has some mechanics behind it. Now I am not saying combat in Souls is anything groundbreaking, it certainly isn't, and everyone who thinks combat is what makes Souls good is a dunce. But atleast there are some mechanics involved with the rolling in that game. If you don't time it correctly, you can get punished, since the i-frames are only in the middle of the roll. If you don't choose the right direction, you can get punished, since you cannot dodge through people. If you mismanage your ressource - stamina - you can get punish, so you shouldn't wail on enemies like you can in Arkham. Also, since your inputs are recognized while doing an action, and then executed afterwards, you have to commit to every move you make, while in Arkham you can cancel your animations with rolling or countering.

Also, you can only counter very few enemies in Souls, which has a more complex setup than the counter in Arkham: you have to face the enemy, the frame-window of the counter is smaller, you cannot counter two enemies at once.

Again, the combat in Souls is not that great. I am just pointing out in what ways it has mechanically more depth than Arkham.

>Except there is.
I would really like to see footage of that. I played Arkham Asylum and City, and never saw that happening. I have read many people point out that it CAN happen, but never have I seen footage of that, even when asking for it.
>>
>>381877163
This game is a masterpiece.
>>
>>381880731
In Arkham city at least you can be attacked by up to 4 people because there's a counter animation for blocking 4 at once.
Now whether there's 4 people actually going for you or whether the last two just kinda get thrown in for the counter prompt when you're being attacked by one of the two active fighters, I'm not sure.

Spinal injuries, especially to the cervical region, usually are limited to car accidents, falls from higher than 15 feet, and those rare Million Dollar Baby moments.

distance fields bitch

anyway, the issue isn't innaccuracy of the simulation it is that it's simulated in the first place, physics are hard to very accurately estimate, you can't throw a basketball in the hoop every time

that being said, LBP has pretty solid physics

Yes it is? You can literally see random loot on the ground. All they did was take a snippet of gameplay where the guy panned the camera around.

>you cannot counter two enemies at once.
Assuming the requisites are in place where the enemies are attacking at the same time with parriable attacks, you can in fact parry multiple enemies at the same time. You'll only riposte one though (assuming you choose to do such). There's a webm that gets posted occasionally of a dude parrying three players at the same time in DS3 for example.

Those ps2/360 tomb raider games were surprisingly good. I'm probably alone in thinking this.

That sounds wacky. But it proves the point, the counter in Dark Souls is not meant to be used on multiple guys, it is for 1v1.

>game where the player can create anything out of thin air looks like the generic sony game
Sounds about right. Sony are the only ones inovating these days.

>>381854543
Only if you throw it into the exact center of another nuke as it explodes. Otherwise it would be akin to just throwing it into a regular explosion since the actual fission is over in milliseconds. You seem to be thinking that you can just throw some fissible material into a nuclear explosion at any point and it will suddenly undergo fission too. Which is not true. You might get lucky and cause a gun type bomb to detonate if you hit it just right, but it would be underpowered.

The realistic projection would be that at best, the bomb would be thrown off normal course by the shockwave, but still land and explode. Worst case is that it would be damaged by the blast and just not function.

yes some Judo training will definitely help when a drugged up nigger is running right at you, very clever anon. And I like how you call out 'amerifats' specifically when no law enforcement in the world has this kind of training requirement.
>>
>>381853998
Yes but for fusion bombs, such as h bombs, they require geometrically perfect compression with high explosive lenses, otherwise you'll just end up with a normal explosion or a fission explosion. Fusion bombs are not as rough and ready easy as gun type fission models. Its part of the reason making a nuke is so hard; gun type bombs use rare materials, and implosion fission bombs require insanely specialized and high-tech engineering.

If I were a shitposter I'd target nintendo fans aswell. You retards fall for everything. It's probably the easiest way of getting (you)s without any effort.

You could choose not to riposte and instead just make use of the increased damage to attack normally. In any case, I was only refuting the assertion that you can't counter multiple enemies, rather than taking part in the argument.
