Game has some wonderful set-pieces.

Wouldn't say either game is better than the other, they both have hits and misses. Both are great.

Haven't played the first since I've got no PS3 or 360.

Automata is an amazing game. Fucking fantastic music, fun as hell, and a pretty deep combat system for a JPRG all things considered.

I wasn't swayed emotionally by the game's story very much, at least until I got to ending E. I did like the story, though I still have some questions of what happened between Nier's events and this game's. Specifically concerning the proliferation of "regular" androids and YoRHa models, and the mastermind behind the whole ruse.

Overall, I'd say it's the best game I've played this year, and in a long fucking while. Top 3 easily.

9S is such a high end model that whatever Androids in charge of YoRHa as a whole knew that he could discover the truth behind their "Glory to Mankind" facade.

2B's android designations is a cover-up; she isn't a type B (Battler), she's a type E (Executioner). She's had to kill 9S time and again before the game begins.

Why 9S was created is never really stated. Especially considering that the Androids had no idea of the Machine Network's self-sabotage. I'm guessing YoRHa or whatever thought that 9S was worth keeping around because he could discover the Network's secrets. 2E just had to make sure she kill him should he ever learn too much about YoRHa.

It's a great game that will take you one wild ride, that's all I can say. Also play it on Hard. Normal is too easy.

I'm just curious if anyone knows who created Yohra, set up the backdoor and made those SS level documents was it other androids humans or replicants?
It can't be humans or replicants can it? cause the newer androids use black boxes built with machine cores but machines appeared at about 5200 replicants died off 4200 and humans died out back in 2300

People saying NieR is shit are contrarians. It's a tremendously cool experience. It's worth playing purely from a musical/artistic standpoint, and if you're not terribly picky, the gameplay's pretty fun too.

NieR, NieR:A, and even the Drakengard games are all better than the sum of their parts. People bantering about "lol 2b is just a sex icon" and "wow what a bad game" are just deflecting and derailing from the genuine gem that is NieR.

Buy it. It's good. Especially if you liked NieR and Taro games. People saying "it's shit" is just a response to the over-hyped reception before release. You will notice flaws with this game-like with any game-but at the end of it all, you'll look back on it fondly. There's a a lot of replay value. Never-mind the many different endings, but the ending will actually change your perspective on everything leading up, giving you an incentive to play through again with a new set of eyes. The game does slog during route B, mainly because playing as 9S isn't quite as fun or as cuhrazeee as 2B, but that's because they focus on hacking with him, since he's a scanner model. One thing I love about the game is how a fully upgraded weapon will have unique, powerful abilities, and sometimes even new cosmetic effects. Speaking of weapons, they all have great art-direction, with the Type 40 blades being standouts. Hell, it has great art-direction all around.
And this goes without saying, but it has some top-notch music. Music that will stick with you long after you finish.

Have to agree with this. By the time the "choice" came around, I was so tired of the game that I gave it up without a second thought, ending scene after was pretty sad though. In Automata I gave my save up without any hesitation, but that was more because I felt morally obligated, even though I wasn't done with everything and still had more to see, Emil's quest being one of them.

Should i get this game on my vanilla ps4? im not sure if ill buy the Pro because we are already too deep on this current gen, but is the difference so big between regular/pro that i better off waiting till i get one?

My pc is a potato so one less platform to choose, the thing is that im itching to play this game ever since it came out and im just waiting for a sale to do so, but whenever i think that ill be playing it on the weakest spectrum kinda makes me hesitant.

I replayed through the original NieR and just finished about 3 days ago. Yeah, Automata is a better game. I enjoyed the story and gameplay more. It's a fucking shame that Taro didn't get the full game he wanted though. He had plans for Witcher 3 levels of story expansion.

Hopefully Square Enix starts throwing Taro some more funding after the massive success this garnered, the NieR/Drakengard universe is too interesting to leave to rot.
