Bloodborne vs Dark Souls 3 is a great example. Same engine, but DaS3 had to be gimped on alot of shit because of low spec PC's being the majority of the PC userbase

DaS3 has way worse textures, particles, materials and animation's as well as worse versions of the object motion blur and SSAO type shaders

Literally a game downgraded for multiplat, whereas if DaS3 was PS4 exclusive it would've looked better.

And don't say "yeah but if it was PC exclusive.."

Because that's not a thing. That doesn't exist. The mere concept of such an event doesn't exist. A studio's top brass would be better off burning all their production money on strippers and illegal loli's and have fun than lose it on a PC exclusive making them -$ profits.

What the fuck are you talking about. Bloodborne pushes the PS4 past it's breaking point. That's not "barely running" Barely running would be a game only using like 50% of the power available to run.

DaS3 had to be gimped for PC and Xbone because they have way shitter memory for textures and PS4 had it's compute shaders to handle particles and things for BB.

PC is currently still old tech in terms of architecture when it comes to games. Only very recently have PC games actually started being truly multithreaded, something PS3 development demanded a zillion years ago.

They actually did release a statement at some point about the downgrade, or mentioned it in depth in some interview shortly after release, idk. Basically, the thing about modern AAA games, especially open-world ones, is that attaining a certain level of graphics on a small-scale in beta-level development, and still holding unto that level as the game map gets bigger and development proceeds, is a haphazard and uncertain process these days. gone are the times when devs knew that the graphical fidelity they achieved in beta could be smoothly kept to at development.

The devs admitted, sadly, but honestly eventually, that they experienced huge issues as they applied their earlier tech to larger maps. If you don't believe them, try out Witcher 3 at max settings PLUS all the graphics addons (there are like 2 or 3 major ones) that increase everything to the engine's max. Fps at 1080p with a gtx 1080 slows down literally to 30. Fucking 30. Imagine the problems they encountered at the trailer levels of fidelity.
