They're basically updating the Xbox One to be a juggernaut console with backwards compatibility to previous consoles and then being able to range from cheap budget Xbone to super stronk Xbone to just playing on PC. If it happens so soon most of the games at the start won't look good or what is expected of PS5 since it'll all most likely be games that were PS4 before but had to change to 5.

First, everyone needs to understand that consoles are dead, and what exists now are nothing but walled-garden PCs, PCs with locked-down versions of common PC operating systems (FreeBSD for Sony, Windows for Microsoft). The major motive in making this changeover is easing development costs and putting an end to the 'backwards compatibility' issue forever. From now on there won't be 'generations', there will always be two supported versions, one older and one newer, with rolling retirement of the older whenever it's time to announce the next newer. Generally every 2-3 years, giving each individual iteration a 4-5 year lifespan before there starts being new software released that won't work on it.

PS4Pros specs may have been a bit lower than they should have been, but nothing too serious. They'll stick with it for its full 4-6 year lifespan. They will announce a new version, presumably called 'PS5', in another two or three years from now, and retire the OG PS4 at the same time. However, PS5 will natively support all PS4 games, and PS4Pro will still support PS5 games 'PS5-2', 'PS6', 'PS6-2', etc. will also always still support PS4 games - aka PC games with the right walled-garden DRM. PS4Pro will stop being supported when 'PS5-2' releases.
