I bought it randomly when I really wanted something to play on my Xbone (even though I could've gotten it on PS4 or PC) and I liked it. I wouldn't say it's god-tier, but definitely a very solid metroidvania.

Its shit compared to the rest of the series, 2 of which are free, and 3 is still like a third of the price. Plot is wanna be dark souls and the advertised cat mechanic is used once to actually beat the game and doesn't affect the game or story in the slightest.

Fun and satisfying Metroidvania. Its short but it made for a fun night.

It's great, feels good when you hit things, and controls are very responsive... The only problem for me is the music is completely forgettable and some places don't have any music at all, or very small bits and sounds trying to make it more "eerie" when really it just makes it feel bland

the animation is cute but the difficulty goes from easy/boring to one hit kill boss dashing around with mechanics you haven't faced before

its sort of like if you described why dark souls is really hard and fun and kills you over and over to a little kid, and then they made up a boss that instantly kills you with lightning and dash attacks and just isn't fun because they think challenging games = randomly kill the player

there is melee combat and ranged combat and ranged is always better

its really cute but just amateurish. if it was a free game it would be great but for 10 dollars you will eventually want you money back

The boss you described is pretty early on in the game. I admit I had trouble fighting her at first too but I was being an idiot and not exploring. Came back after getting new abilities and she was easy. The only boss that really gave me a challenge was the queen, maybe that angel thing right before her just cause finding the right one was irritating.

boy,

I beat the boss without going back and getting power ups then quit and got my steam refund. the boss was poorly designed.

it used mechanics that weren't "taught" in the level before it, and it killed you in one hit, so "learning" the boss was just annoying. you don't get a proper chance to experiment and see what works best

It's solid, much better than I'd expect from a game made by some br weeb but it's no Rabi-Ribi or Bunny Must Die. However you might prefer it if shit like atmosphere is more important to you, not that the 'lore' is really any good mind, in fact i find it slightly try hard. I did beat it on the highest difficulty, 100% and all that, I guess I had fun but I'm not sure if it was worth my NEET dollars.

Bought it for the witch of decay titties, I haven't finished it yet.

I actually kind of prefer they take it this direction, Momodora 4 was good but it's not like it was super exceptional for a Metroidvania or that the genre is lacking in games so I don't consider it a loss for them to experiment with 3D, meanwhile there's barely any meaningful indie/doujin soft in the 3D action adventure format. It doesn't look great now but given the projection of at least 2 more years of development i think it could go a long way. The dev obviously has a huge boner for FromSoft so something like this was inevitable.
