I just quit from matches when I hear Jason's music in the first cabin I'm in unless I find something that might buy me time to escape, firecrackers, or a knife, or at the very least a flare gun but a lot of the time all I find is a walkie talkie and/or map and a wrench, maybe a car part that's not going to do me any good at the moment.

People try to say "well he doesn't have shift yet you can get away!

While it's true you can keep him from grabbing you for the first few minutes you're not actually going to make a clean break and get away, he'll just keep following you and use morph to keep on you until he gets shift. Matches like that just aren't fun because he's chasing you constantly, most the doors aren't barricaded yet so Jason's through them almost instantly (and if you try to barricade them you usually get hit, crippling you so it just makes it easier on him), you have no time to search the cabins or even really any time to regen stamina. and yes, he'll ignore the people working on the objectives at the time he's tunneling you.

So I just save myself the frustration and quit before he has a chance to get to me if it's the first cabin.

Sometimes I'll wait long enough for him to waste all his traps on the windows to try and pi me down, then I'll call him a fucking retard over mic and leave. Now he doesn't have traps on the objectives for everyone else.

I actually find Jason to be so broken that I find him completely unfun to play as. Most of the gameplay depth comes from playing as the counselor. Main cabin hiding at a game start is one of the easiest things. The trick is to do fucking nothing but go upstairs to one of the back rooms, go inside and close the door again and just wait a couple minutes. The game doesn't provide any mechanics to make spook play a valid or fun option in a non scumbag set up. Stalk drains too damn quick, still alerts players that you're coming in/out of teleports and is the last ability to unlock. Showing these fuckers even the slightest bit of mercy by refusing to do shift grabs, combat stance blocks, trapping objectives or instant kills ends with pocket knife to your neck, a bat from Bugzy to your skull and Tommy Jarvis shooting you in the face. They then follow this up by using a med spray, teabagging and diving into the next cabin while the AJ that's been crab walking across the map calls the cops. They all end up dying at the end but I found not a slight bit of enjoyment from it.

Yeah, I don't find limiting myself fun at all.

The game has constant crashes, runs like a slideshow, receives patches last, and has dead lobbies. Their solution for the matchmaking clock going on forever is to put you into an empty lobby that nobody else will join until 10 minutes later.

I'm not sure how it is over at PS4 land, but the Xbone version is not the version to get. If anything, the PC version is the place to be as I never had an issue finding lobbies on there. I still get fucking crashes though.

He shouldn't have absolute map control to the extent that he does; he knows where all objectives are, has enough traps to lock them all down, instantly knows when any trap has been triggered or any objective has been actived, and he can telefrag counselors from across the map by grabbing them right out of a shift.

Jason is fine and his ability to be anywhere should not be hindered. The only actual issue is his grab range. It is utterly nuts and can catch you several feet away. It makes it unviable to fight back and you end up getting grabbed all the time when you think you're at a safe distance.

Tunnel Vision

There are Jason's that after morphing to the house with the phone will forget to even trap the phone and instead use all their traps on the windows of the phone cabin in order to corner the counselor inside. They want that first kill so badly they'll ignore the objectives on the map. I've had Jasons tunnel me while a 4 seater car took off, I've had Jason's tunnel me while someone fixed the phones and called the cops. To punish them I'll quit on them (because honestly if I've been doing nothing but running the entire match the xp is going to be so shit it won't even be worth it anyway)

I can mash out of a downed stun, recover faster than a standing stun, and get right back in the chase quicker. This is made even more obvious with Part 2 Jason where he gets stunned easily and for far longer. You get him in a standing stun? You're golden. You can probably run halfway across the map as Vanessa before he gets out of it. You get downed? You're right back the fuck up.

Jason slaughters an entire squad of space marines, dips a chick's head in liquid nitrogen, freezing it and then shattering her head like motherfuckin Sub-Zero, kills the pilot of the ship so when they're trying to dock with a space station they crash through parts of it and cause the whole space station to explode and kill everyone who knows how many kills Jason got with that one.

He then fights an Android and gets blown up, but a medical station rebuilds him as UBER JASON with the UBER MACHETE because NANOMACHINES SON! Then he punches the android's head off. Eventually they separate the ship into 2 parts while another ship is on the way to rescue them, and just as they're escaping Uber Jason floats through space to intercept them, but the last space marine sacrifices himself to collide with Jason and set him off intercept course with the ship, and they tandem skydive through the atmosphere of Earth II and burn up on reentry.

when I play Jason I just trap the objectives and rough up the house the phone is in a bit, break all the doors and windows for easy access later. If they flee, I do a half ass chase but morph away if they put any effort into it. If they try to hide, they die, because I can't just let them sit on the phone cabin. Now that I've stalled the 5 minute timer on the match, I start to gradually increase effort in actually getting kills. At first I remain half ass about it, I break chases quickly to check on objectives, I make sure to smash all the power boxes and tear up cabins. I harass people I see carrying car parts and respond to traps (and I only trap the phone generally.

You only get to play Jason once every like 10 matches, so you should savor it and not rush to "win" as fast as possible. Try to create a mood of fear and more than anything, confusion. It makes it worthwhile to me when I can hear them over mic saying things like "I don't know where he is.. he was here then he just left.. OH GOD HE'S BACK" or using stalk and then kool aid manning through a door while I hear them discussing their plans and scare the shit out of them.

When you hear "OH GOD YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK" you know you're doing better than just tunneling and killing as efficiently as possible.

I also like them to be able to fix the 4 seater car and have a fucking WAR around the car. I had a match earlier today where we has a 6v1 gang fight on the 4 seater car, they'd break their weapons while I was combat stance blocking then run off find another weapon and come back. They eventually all died still, they were so focused on that 4 seater car, my traps at the phone never got touched, the 2 seater didn't even have a battery in it. They never got the sweater either. Even though 2 of them would have been stranded by the 4 seater getting away we brawled around the 4 seater anyway.

End results was 6 corpses around the car spawn and 2 elsewhere.

I never find pocket knives and I'm always spawning next to the car and phone box combo that sees Jason teleport to before the 5 Minutes Later at the start of the game has left the screen.

I have been able to assemble a more stamina + faster stamina regen that sees me cheese the hell out of Jason since I can just sprint from house to house and annoy the hell out of them.

That's always fun to do vs bad jasons, but once more people realize that you can break down doors via combat mode, so that you can break them down faster and block on your way in. It gets less fun, so then you gotta start hiding around corners and hope you can land the hit with out getting grabbed.

This game looks like it's a lot of fun. I've watched a lot of streamers have fun with it, and I have a pretty good idea what perks and counselor I would use.
It doesn't look like it's worth $40, though, and that's kept me from buying it.

General strategy seems to be
>Go to out-of-the-way houses first, stealthy people should search for parts while fast people should run parts to objectives and distract Jason
>Lock doors and open windows first thing upon reaching a house
>Characters over 6 Stealth can always jog without making noise, everyone else will either move at a snail's pace or constantly have Jason's attention
>Loud characters should stay away from stealthy ones, but people should stay in pairs to break grabs and reduce fear
I don't know how people can really lose if they follow these steps. Especially if they have Thick Skin (as much as 50% damage reduction from all sources) and Psychic (start with a walkie talkie)

Depends on the Jason. That hidden stat everyone is memeing about is Jason's ability to "hear" counselors when not in sense mode.

Part 7 can hear even a running AJ literally no matter what.

I very rarely rely on sound pings as Jason tbqh. They help with pinpointing a location within a red cabin a bit, and can give general directions but.. not really as good as sense.

These are the two strongest Jason abilities in the game. The houses are the only safe place from Jason, and the objectives are the only way to win. Letting him have +perks in both domains in return for -swimming is a little much in my opinion.
