ITT People who don't know their XCOM lore

They don't really invade and establish outposts on earth up until midgame, because we're really only useful for harvesting and a general POI. They only send skiffs and cargo ships to covertly steal stuff and only later do they start military action.

If aliens attacked us we probably would all drop dead before we even realized we were under attack, unless they wanted us alive for some reason.

Doubt it, since aliens would most likely either glass us or infiltrate us and slowly turn our societys culture to be more accepting of aliens and then take us over by just integrating us to their empire or if they want to terraform the planet to better fit them they might do some clever shit like become industrial magnates and start up tons of factories to alter the composition of the biosphere to better suit their liking.
