Also discovered the game has (optional) randomly generated dungeons, so that's nice, too.

Anyways my Oasis is at Level 10 with 21 citizens.

Max. Oasis level is 20 and you can get 60 citizens in total. Max level for a single guy is 30.

Yokai Watch is a game designed for small children, so while it's apparently good for what it is, what it is is ridiculously simple.

If you're into RPGs, Rune Factory 4, the Etrian Odyssey series (4 especially), the Shim Megami Tensei titles (although Soul Hackers is a bit dated), the Bravely Default titles, and the two Dragon Quest remakes are all among the best RPGs to come out in the past decade. Also, the upcoming remakes of Radiant Historia and SMt:Strange Journey are based off of fantastic titles.

For strategy-RPGs, the Fire Emblem games and the SMT: Devil Survivor games are all worth looking at.

On the whole, the 3DS probably has the strongest lineup of RPGs of any platform in the past decade. Not all of it may be of interest to you, but it's great that there is more than enough quality and variety to choose from.

Even the demo we got a week or two ago was a trimmed down version of the demo that was at E3 2016. Not much to hype up beyond that time, where the game did get a fair amount of interest.

You build an Oasis in the hope of building a village. People will come visit and you can get them to move in by either doing quests for them, saving them in the field or having your town set up in certain ways. Those people then set up their own shops which you supply with material which is your source of income. And then you also have a garden for basic gardening. And when you get everything really running you can delegate your population to do tasks for you like watering plants or gather materials.

Field gameplay is like Fantasy Life, its just okay

Your brother's oasis gets taken over by Chaos, and he sends you away to safety. You meet Esna and make another oasis, with you as the new Oasis chief. People settle and you do a good job, but the Chaos comes back. You find it can be driven away with Lumites, magical mcguffins that grow in power with the user's conviction. You find one and Esna uses it to clear the oasis of Chaos. This repeats until the third attack, when Esna finds she can't drive away the Chaos anymore(lost conviction, and so the Lumite wouldn't respond). The mastermind(your brother, possessed by Chaos incarnate named Sheuk) takes advantage of this moment of weakness, and takes the Lumites' power for himself, making a "Black Lumite". He stages a final attack, but you get deus ex machina'd into having more time(by spirits in the Lumite). Guided by a mysterious voice(Thoth, the first chief), you recharge the Lumites and make a "White Lumite" out of them, and Esna clears oasis once more(She regains conviction when she learns the Chaos is the resentment and despair of dead desert dwellers, born of selfish acts). You fight Sheuk under the oasis and you win, but attempts to bring the oasis down with him in a suicide attack. Esna manages to quell its rage with benevolence, but ends up dying. Her sacrifice turns the entire desert into lush greenery, and everyone lives happily ever after.

Not sure if there is a cap, but I have seen income from upwards of 1000+ if the income isn't collected for a while or after a festival

I haven't had any negative effects for not having my character sleep, and you still can get the stamps from auto restock, but you have to go to the store that has the stamp to get it, you can see what stores have a stamp ready from the autostock menu

looks like each treasure room in a labyrinth has a predetermined fake treasure, if you get the same room as a treasure room on different runs the fake treasure will be the same
can't wait till someone makes a guide that mentions exactly which treasure is fake for every possible treasure room

Game is comfy and all,
but having to come back and forth every dungeon for different skills is annoying as fuck.

Also no exp share means your party will always be under level.

I really disliked it at first, but at least the aqua warp leaves you exactly where you left off. The switching is easy and simple, but it just kills the pacing at times when you need it for dungeon puzzles.

the other races can be send on expeditions where they can easily gain atleast lv 21 if you just make them kill monsters in progressively higher level areas

the only painful bit is the "Level everyone to max" achievement, but at the very least you'll probably be able to synthesize a few EXP+ gear for your seedlings if you're planning on wasting more than 30 hours on this game

the rooms themselves are (mostly) randomized, so they can contain treasure/enemies/button puzzles or restoration points, but how the rooms connect to each other is always the same

I'd say it's a huge step up, coming from someone who enjoyed Fantasy Life. One, you can actually dodge. Two, you can control anyone you bring along at any time and manage all their equipment super easily. Three, animation recoveries are nowhere as long and on some weapons' attacks they get shortened as you level up.

To make up for it, mobs are strong as fuck and you get frequently pit against a couple of em. If you're not bad, you can take shit on way above your level.
