I feel like Retro is probably making another one of Nintendo's IPs. Nintendo usually leaves "new IPs" and their creation to their Japanese studios, where they have better control over what gets made and can be marketable.

If I were to guess, it will either be Mario Kart (since they helped with Mario Kart 7 on 3DS), Diddy Kong Racing reboot, F-Zero, Mario Party/a Mario Sports game, or Smash Bros.

I hope you guys are ready for Other M 2.

Tanabe is a highly involved and demanding producer. He insists very strongly on his creative decisions, and argues fiercely with anyone who disagrees. Retro actually requested a new NCL producer shortly after DKCTF because they were tired of his shit. It's a mistake to assume he's not very involved on his projects because his track record is somewhat inconsistent.

Also, he said that MP4 is being headed up by "a talented new development team". That's vague as hell, but I feel like it rules out the teams he's already worked with in the past. Unless "new" just means "new to Metroid Prime".
