What leaks and why should we trust them

The worst part of Stormblood is Zenos by far. The least interesting antagonist this game has ever had. He's a watered down version of Luca Blight.

I was totally fine with Lyse, and overall I liked SB's cast a lot. The other exceptions for me are Gosetsu, because he's too old, and Yugiri who continued feeling like she lacked all personality beyond "I want to liberate Doma" and even to that end she contributed practically nothing beyond one of the most hilariously doomed assassination attempts in video game history that took two deus ex machina interventions just to go from "complete disaster" to "nothing was accomplished"

Lyse is still good ol' Yda: not that bright, impulsive, quick to fight as her initial reaction (See for example: Catfish Punt, jumping into an ocean just cause she wanted a nice swim instead of taking the boat, literally every cutscene she has a fight in, leaping at Zenos headfirst twice!). She's the star of the show this expansion and it's entirely about things near and dear to her heart and her growing up into a position of actual influence and power. Lyse fights and defeats a bunch of enemies. She's part of a boatload of duties and events and is established as doing a bunch of shit
similar to the WoL. She's basically a True Rune away from being a Suikoden protagonist.

I can't speak to whether it'll fulfill your cravings, but it's a fine MMO at that. It's not as openly social as older MMOs but it's also relatively easy to find guilds/groups to play with and interact with consistently. There's plenty to do, and a decent main storyline to boot. It's all relatively easy to get into and play.

The game admittedly has a ridiculously slow start. You will definitely feel the length of the 2.5s GCD for your first 40-50 levels or so, after that it'll start making sense why the 2.5 GCD is the way it is.

Is there anything wrong with the steam version of these games, or should I just buy it straight from square enix?

The only reason I play this instead of WoW is the crafting, believe it or not. FF has a crafting system with actual mechanics where you can fail to make an item or make one of higher quality depending on how you use your crafting abilities. It isn't that complex but I really enjoy it.

Yugiri's plan was dumb as fuck without support but she was thinking that before when Zenos was fought, it'd been with the might of an army backing him and not with the element of surprise. It's kind of hard to believe that the motherfucker is just that individually powerful without experiencing it firsthand, and a chance to assassinate him in a secluded location cut off from his normal supply line seems logical enough on paper, particularly since his death would all but assure rallying Domans to renewing their cause to resistance.

Warrior of Light was probably motivated by a mix of concern for Yugiri and a lingering sense that maybe they'd be able to pull it off in that circumstance. And it did end up a net positive for them, though that's more on a lucky break due to Zenos's obsession rather than the plan being good.

I just wish some of these antagonists would stick around and have the opportunity to be developed into something interesting. I grin like an idiot every time Nero shows up and love the 'will he or won't he?' element that he adds.

The only antagonists that stick around for any length of time are the ascians and I quit giving a fuck about their arc about the time the Chrysalis was added to the game. They are the most boring shit in existence and SB story was far better off for them not being in 99.9% of it.

After 4 hours of wiping to the King of Memes I've finally finished SB. I've avoided every spoiler by just not coming to these threads.

I think it was really really good. I'm torn as to whether it was better than HW or not. HW had a better core cast of characters, but the things that happen in SB are more entertaining.

They did it because the biggest difference between good and bad raid groups in this game is how much damage they get out of tanks and healers, and in Heavensward it was too hard to design a 4-fight raid tier that's both challenging for a good group, and possible to ever beat for a bad group.

Instead of just getting better at design, or budgeting for an expanded raid tier that provides challenges for a greater range of player skill, they elected to just make it impossible to do particularly well as a tank or healer.

They also act like tank damage was cut in half which is blatantly untrue and shows a fundamental ignorance of the very thing they're complaining about. It's more like 5-10%, if that.

SE wants the DPS jobs to be responsible for the vast majority of raid damage and that's fine, that's how it should be. Tanks and healers should offer no more than a minor bonus at best, as their focus should be on performing their own role.
