I stopped playing Metroid Prime 3 partly because I felt I'd already played it, but also because I was being awarded for stupid shit like beating the bosses and advancing the game.

When I later found out you could toggle off the achievements I'd got enough other shit to do. I hope to return to it someday soon now that 4 is announced.

I'm happy it doesn't. I own all of the current major consoles, and many things don't feel worth doing in games that have achievements where an achievement isn't tied to that thing. On top of that, achievements often spoil easter eggs these days.
Nintendo's tried it a few times, the first notable time being Prime 3's medal system, but it's luckily never caught on.

Whats the deal? I love getting all the trophies for the games I play. It feels like I've really done all I can do in a game once I get the platinum. It gives games a longer life and really encourages you to see everything the game has to offer. Not only that it is crazy fun going for multiplayer achievements with friends. Some of the best times I've ever had is playing online with some friends going after hard achievements like beating Left 4 Dead on Expert. Or doing the call of duty zombie easter eggs together. I don't see why people are so autistic about hating on them. The only people I know online who hate trophies are people who are bad at vidya and couldn't get them anyways.
