Why are these games so underrated, /v/?
I never got good at maneuvering around in combat while on a tile grid, but i did get pretty far in the first!

not underrated, just aimed for smaller group
Mostly because they are not that good.

Mostly because they are that good.

Mostly because plebs are not that good at them
if they were any good /v/ would talk about them.
The first one isn't. The second is because nobody played it.

This. It's why you often hear the term "grinding" spouted when other dungeon crawlers are mentioned.
niche games that are only available on pc
wish there was more modern takes on this genre
>>381770804
If i had to choose between only one of them which one should i buy?
>>381772998
The second, it's better in every way.
>>381773091
i've heard there's a ton more puzzles that get on your way every two steps
Anyone know what that company is up to now?
>>381773874
A lot of them are optional though. But the puzzles are actually pretty clever and only one of them is total bullshit :the one where you have to use the serpent staff, an item you probably will throw away way before you can even do the puzzle
Anyways the second game is just superior because of better enemy variety and boss fights. Also less linear and the end isn't nearly as dissapointing as it is in the first game.
This game is what Eye of the Beholder 2 & 3 were for the first game.

They're developing a new roguelike game called Druidstone.

the Grimrock devs perfected a genre. We'll never see it's like again
>>381774258
They also changed names or companies or something but they key staff is all there.
>>381771762
Well, I don't know about plebs, but the only enjoyable thing about first Grimrock was solving puzzles and looking for secrets, everything else was either not that impressive or bad.
I didn't finish second game but I liked it a little bit more because environment doesn't consist 100% of dungeons and there is actually a world map. also area bosses is a good addition
>>381770804
The first one got a lot of threads back when it came out but people didn't seem to pay as much attention to the second despite being a better game. Honestly both should be played.

Eh, can't say im not disappointed. As someone who used to LOVE roguelikes and rogue-lites I'm so burnt out on them now. There's just so many. Grimrock was refreshing because no one touches this genre.
