I really hope the next one is in termina, despite the whole "alternate dimension" or "five stages of grief" stuff. I hope it builds on BotW but with actual dungeons and more varied sidequests, another half of the map at sea with actual boats would be really cool as well and give the Zora more than just a record label office. This way we kill MM and WW fanservice in one blow as well as giving a huge variety of things to add (Deku, masks, Ikana Kingdom, Snowfall, a non destroyed Ranch, etc.)
>>
>>381757898
>Are you looking forward to the DLC?
Yeah. Don't have anything to play so it's just the DLC and then I'll wait for Splatoon 2. Still log on every day to listen to the music because it's comfy.
>>

DLC when?
>>
>>381757898
I am disappointed with master mode; just making the enemies ranked up does nothing but create damage sponges. Trial of the sword might be cool; I enjoyed the island shrine quest.

Really hoping DLC 2 will flesh out the champions. The storytelling was good but left me wanting more.

You're a fucking idiot if you payed the $300 for the handheld that runs this game and the extra 60 on top of that, completely not worth it.
At most I'd pay $40 for it.

When BOTW first released I played it basically whenever I could for as long as I could and finished it in about 130 hours (including all shrines). After this and Persona 5's "end of a journey" syndrome, I'm looking forward to the DLC so I can justify playing this monster of a game again.

I'm really hoping that Ballad of the Champions ends up being the good type of DLC, because BOTW is a pretty good game and I'd like a reason to play it again.

The DLC we have right now kind of irks me though, it's more of an enhancement to the experience rather than an addition to the game. Plus, hard mode isn't something we should be paying money for, this kinda worries me about Nintendo's future for DLC.

Only Risa considers doing this but the lessons from Ashai are starting to break down her natural Gerudo instincts

The other Gerudo want to be romancedand most of the Gerudo don't look at you and decide whether you'd produce strong children but rather are seduced by compliments or giving them nice things. More enemy variety. My biggest criticism of BOTW besides a lack of dungeons is that you're basically fighting moblins, bokoblins, lizalfos, and almost nothing else 95% of the time for the entire game. Once in a blue moon you get a ninja and some chu or those golems but that's about it besides the enemies that don't scale.

I get the mentality of having a few enemies that can do a lot of things rather than a large amount of enemies that are functionally the same but there really should have been a lot more.

I was hoping that they'd do something about that with the DLC packs but all we seem to be getting are beefier bokoblins and lynels, plus floating enemies out of nowhere.

I was really hoping that they'd put in a new zone or something, but it looks like we're just getting the misadventures of the champions rather than something new.

I guess we'll get Hyrule Castle Town if nothing else. Hopefully the lone dungeon they've promised is good enough to soften the blow of the divine beasts being short and simple.
>>
>>381767519

Here's a thought. If Gerudo naturally always fuck men of other races doesn't that mean that the Gerudo Voe would be looked upon as odd for wanting to fuck other Gerudo since the only relationships anyone ever has (for procreation not recreation) are interracial ones.

>What do you want the next zelda to focus/improve on?
Make the main dungeons different and unique from each other like past games instead of feeling like a slight extension of shrines and using the same gimmick.
Put lots of interesting sidequests in there and we've got another Majora's Mask. If the map is as big as BOTW, it will be better than that game as well.

Am I the only one that likes divine beasts more than traditional Zelda dungeons?
>>
>>381773674
I like them as well, kinda. The concept is fantastic, my only issue with them is that they are too small, I understand that shrines are there to replace them, but imagine if we had both, shrines and interactive gigantic moving dungeons of the usual size. That would have been truly perfection.
>>
>>381773674
Probabaly?
The lack of "lock and key" puzzle design that exists solely to get you to pull out the dungeon item and instead allowed for open ended problem solving was a real nice way to go about puzzles, but they could have done that in traditional dungeon room layouts just as well, the shrines show that.

What the Beasts are lacking are hazards, they're really light on enemies and environmental damage.
They're also kind of tiny, which I understand is so they they can fit withing the overworld as mechs that roam around, but I don't think it's an improvement over large sprawling dungeons, especially when the rest of the game is so big, it's odd to not have big dungeons too I think.
>>
>>381773674
The puzzles are better imo but they should at least have different skins in them
>>
>>381757898
>What do you want the next zelda to focus/improve on?
I want the next Zelda to return the time mechanic on an open world level. Instead of a moon that's slowly coming down it's an apocalypse that's happening around you in real time. Start off with a lush green land and end in Mordor.
>>
>>381774836
But it would discourage exploration as you feel pressure to finish the game

>>
>>381757898
I was really busy the last few months so I'm still not done with the main game yet. I've finished about 94 shrines and 3 beasts now. Still got a lot to do in the world. The game just doesn't get boring to me.
>>
>>381774431
Yeah, probably. I was okay with it though because of how different the scenery was from dungeon to dungeon. Plus all of them but Ruta were moving while you did stuff, which I thought was crazy impressive.

I know a lot of people think the bird is the worst one (and they're probably right), but the physics of that never stopped being impressive to me.
>>
>>381760602
Wat, normal mode is easy as balls, only "hard" enemies are the Lynels, and even they are easy once you learn their attack patterns and how to counter everything. They also do waaaaaaaaay more damage than even Ganon does, who was a total pushover of a final boss btw.
>>
>>381778932
Yeah, ganon was an easy as fuck boss, I wonder if that is intentional so players can go deal with him at the very start, or was it supposed to be a victory lap battle?
>>
Actual full fledged dungeons, a real story that doesn't just consist of flashbacks, a world that's not in ruin, I'd love to go into a crowded and bustling castle town that we only got a glimpse of in TP and OOT, non-breakable weapons
>>
>>381778623
Yeah I fucking loved the moving dungeon gimmick, I hope the next game keeps them
>>
>>381778623
I think the bird had by far the coolest activation thingy and the most fun individual puzzles but the stuff leading up to it felt so half assed and the boss was kinda lame. That shit tends to stick out way more than what was good imo.

To me the lizard is probably the least interesting one overall but I still like it for its music.

>>381779325
Beast ganon was definitely a victory lap but you're probably that they wanted players to fight calamity ganon early. He still does decent damage with low armor but the flurry rush windows are so generous that he doesn't even have a chance to hit you.

I like the weapon durability concept, it just needs QOL adjustments like repairing and better switching. Maybe increase it by 2x? It'll be perfect then
>>
>>381779881
Elephant was cooler imo, I liked the trunk thing. Lizard's initial dark room was cool, pity they didn't keep with that concept

As far as I'm concerned they should have had the Champion's weapons be unbreakable but as they lack any kinnd of buffs and don't deal a particularly great deal of damage players don't feel like they're the only weapons worth using. Probably make them experience no benefit from Attack up food, elixirs or clothing

Master Sword is fine as is but maybe it should recharge automatically if you don't use it for a long time rather than having to be fully used up to start recharging
>>
>>381780640
All champ weapons should have some kind of special buff AND a recharge imo. They should scale with your hearts/stam/spirit orbs too.

Like Revali's bow can have some kind of wind arrow effect or something, that would make the champ weapons useful for something other than display
>>
>>381780640
But then you'd never use the Champion weapons for anything. Hell, you barely do as it is since Royal and better do more damage.
>>
>>381780640
There should also be some sort of way to tell exactly how long you're going to have a weapon for.
>>
>>381780863
Royal weapons break too fast, I prefer the lynel weapons
>>
>>381780863
And if they didn't do much damage you'd have the autistic hoarders complain about damage sponges as they chip down silver lynels with Mipha's 10 damage spear.
>>
>>381780809
But the Great Eagle Bow is already really strong. Imagine if you went and did that Divine Beast first. It would be your strongest weapon for many may hours of play.
Goron Weapon is useful too.

It's the other two, which are weaker than Royal gear, which becomes incredibly common due to the poor scaling system the game has. The Trident is the absolute worst, being even weaker than elemental spears.
>>
>>381780152
I really loved gliding down the trunk as it was unfurling, especially when it's at the right time of day.

The dark room was cool and even though they did it again with the shrine north of the korok forest, I wanna see it taken further in the next game.

>>381780292
Naboris is legitimately my favorite zelda dungeon even if it's a bit short.
>>
>>381781095
Trident should have an ice effect or some other buff tied to zora armour or water or something, and the Goron weapon should have a fire effect. The Gerudo weapon should have an electric effect

There made them 10x better
>>
>>381781126
I love how it half of the dungeon can be circumvented by making a circuit with metal weapons. That is so dumb yet so cool.

That's very nice but what about the other champion weapons. Mipha, Urbosa and Daruk have pretty lacklustre stuff plus as >>381781916 says it's not the strongest bow you can get in the game. It being unbreakable alongside the other Champion weapons wouldn't affect the balance of the game
>>
>>381781916
>But it gets completely outclassed by the lynel bow
Not really. I mean the very best Lynel bows are better, yes. But even then it's not completely outclassed.
It shoots more than twice as fast. You'll consume more arrows, yes. But in a sheer DPS race it sort of keeps up.
Not to mention that it also has longer range.
>>
>>381780413
I like it too, breaking a weapon on an enemy's face just feels so damn good, I could care less about replenishing stock or whether the weapons I get in return are weaker. I just roll with it

>>
>>381782151
It probably would affect the balance since the loop is use weapon get weapon back. I'm not sure how to circumvent it though, they could probably make the unbreakable part post-Ganon only or some upgrades path
>>
>>381782401

>>
>>381782401

>>
>>381782663

>>
Whenever you defeat a group of enemies you always run off with way more weapons than you went in with. Unless you screwed up or ran away and fled like a scaredy cat in the middle of it.

So I really don't quite see the issue with the weapons breaking. It's not as if you ever run out of them.
And if you have a certain weapon that you favour over others and would like you use more. All the weapons respawn with the blood moon anyway so if you so desire you can simply pick up a ton of them.

The game is overly generous with weapons so I really don't quite see the big deal of a weapon breaking. You'll find a weapon just as good if not better in mere moments afterwards anyway.
>>
>>381782347

I loved Breath of the Wild, but I disagree. The plateau is general Zelda bullshit padding right from the getgo. Though most Zelda games, like OoT, WW, MM, TP, are all guilty of having padded as fuck tutorial sections, BOTW has perhaps the longest one. It makes sense within context because it gives you 80% of all of the items you're going to use for the ENTIRE FUCKING GAME, but otherwise, it feels really long and drawn out and is the single worst part about making a second playthrough.

Spider Ganon is a legitimately well designed fight. Going at him without the Divine Beasts on your side causes you to engage him with less powerups, for twice as long. His fight is all about doing all the things you've learned through the game. Sword play, dodging, parrying, perfect blocks, reflects, and accurate arrow shots.

The fact that he has not one, but 3 ways to break his invincibility barrier in phase 3 all from performing perfect actions is testament to what he's about. Pig ganon is insulting though.
>>
>>381786080
>It's also conversely the only area in a game about exploration where you cant really benefit from exploring.

Well, you get the Warm Doublet for free by climbing the tallest peak, or by cooking that other thing, both of which are out of the way of your main objective in the region.

>>
>>381786080
It's got four shrines which are pretty damn close since they're all puzzle shrines introducing the runes.

As for exploration, it's not hugely rewarding on replay because you know the context of the game, but the first time through it was great. I was incredibly excited when I found bomb arrows before getting bombs and the fire rod. There's tons of secrets on the plateau alone and even if none of it really matters beyond the dozen Korok seeds, it makes the first playthrough a lot more memorable.

>What do you want the next zelda to focus/improve on?
I think BotW is perfect but the next game could use something different, more enemy variety and big dungeons with traps. Harder enemies. I think i they can expand on things like Eventide Island then they're going in the right direction. It's Zelda so they can do so many things with it. I think the next game could be something like that's inspired by BotW but it's darker. Your job is to protect Zelda again and you work together to do some shit and then there's a new threat and you'll have to fight against a new horde of enemies and the main leader wants to take over Hyrule or whatever. THE thing they should keep however is playing solo, no companions. Companions are nice when they're done well but I think one of the best parts of BotW was being alone.

I played it on wii u and you can use the gamepad to change divine beast controls without pausing if you play on the tv. There are several dungeons in other titles where you flip switches and change the layout of the dungeon and many of those led to more complex puzzles than anything you'll find in botw. Stone tower temple from majora's mask is more difficult and creatively designed than any of the divine beasts.

I'm done here. The rest of you can enjoy dick riding the last nail in the coffin of one of my favorite franchises.

It has very, very little I dislike and it accomplishes what it sets out to do. To me that's perfect.

But that doesn't mean it's exactly to my tastes. Put it this way, I love the game, it's one of my favorites of all time, but were it possible, I'd still mod the fuck out of it.

I wouldn't want to control a game with slightly complicated controls like breath of the wild alongside her, it'd just drag her down and make her not have fun, but maybe?

>>
>>381789092
Yeah, I want more enemies. Fighting the hydra guy from Zelda 1 in 3D would be cool as fuck
>>
>>381788312
Okay, bye.

Man I love Majora's Mask, I'll defend it to death, but the Stone Tower Temple is overrated. It's incredibly well-designed, but it's all in service of making people think they're clever instead of demanding that people actually be clever. Snowhead (and probably Great Bay Temple) are both more commplex. Plus they don't have the Elegy of Emptiness slowing things down.

Even in the simplest Divine Beast, you have to flip the mechanism back and forth mulitple times and understand how it affects the dungeon. As good as they were, BotW's dungeons make better use of their central mechanisms than MM's.
>>
You guys got one right?
>>
>>381788279
I am no expert. But it might be worth trying to hold the right joycon in the left hand and the left joycon in the right hand.

The left joycon isn't really used much aside from the analog stick after all.

Started this game 3 days ago for the U. Absolutely loving it so far, I don't usually play open world games so I love the exploration aspect of this. I've been playing for 12 or so hours and taking my time, just updated my Sheikah Slate to take photos. The only complaints I have so far is that it doesn't really feel like a Zelda and that the amount of content here is overwhelming. But really, those are just nitpicks.

I assume to get the "true" ending you need to visit all the places Zelda suggests you to go, as well as visit all the Divine Beasts? Anything else?
>>
>>381773674
The Divine Beasts have great puzzles, they just need to be longer and have unique aesthetics.

No. I'm not really buying it. The added stuff is just rehash content. It's a bummer too. I liked the base game, but thought it was lacking in number of enemy types and interesting encounters. >>
>>381804391
>>381805304
The system itself is great thry just fucked up by making weapons break too fast

Why would I fight this mob of bokoblins when my weapons are really good, it would be a waste of time, instead I'll just avoid them

This is a mentality that the player should not ever have but it happens frequently in botw. This was the problem with sticker star too. Everything you do feels like you're using an item, the only sense of progression you get is from your heart count and stamina wheel, that's it. Even the champion powers feel like items because they have limited uses and cool downs. The durability does break the game or anything but it could've been handled better

The game also should've had a repair shop. And I'm not talking about the ones to remake champion weapons I'm talking about a shop where you can fix regular weapons. Cost to repair would scale with the weapon's attack power/durability of course
>>
>>381806449

I think this is a player problem though, not anything inherent to the game.

I never thought twice about saving weapons and I had a great time with the system. I got more, better, weapons than I used, so as I progressed the average level of my inventory kept increasing even though I was using my best gear all the time.

It's improvisational combat. Condemned/Hotline Miami style. Weapons are powerups.
>>
Okay /v/ am I just too casual? I started a playthrough and I am really fucking frustrated I am getting one shot/two shot everytime. My weapons do fuck all damage and enemies just do too much. Especially those guardian fucks, they are just too hard. Just left the plateau, will it get better? How can I make it get better?
>>
>>381795782
Did you get all the treasure in each shrine?
The game keeps track of that.
>>
>>381806336
I agree. You also can get plenty of free food from saving people. I think itll make the biggest difference in gameplay
>>
>>381806752
>I am too lazy to find an actual solution to the problem so let me greentext the solution back to you

Funny guy you are
>>
So, I beat the game and did all the shrines I found around the map (about 70).
What the fuck am I supposed to do next?
I feel like the rest of the side stuff just requires a FAQ in a pretty bullshit way.
>>
>>381806831
Yes of course it varies from player to player, your stance makes sense. I just got tired of using a royal broadsword to fight a pack of bokoblins and getting their shitty clubs in return. So I just ended up avoiding a bunch of fights. And I think if it's common enough for many players to adhere to this school of thought, there's something findamentally wrong with the games design. And I think the crux of that flaw is weapons break too fast.
>>
>>381806959
Guardians are late game content. You should be running from them until you have the weapons to deal with them.
>>
>>381807297
I mean the fucking tiny ones that you find in shrines. I can't even beat them

>>381806449
>Why would I fight this mob of bokoblins when my weapons are really good, it would be a waste of time, instead I'll just avoid them

Generally that's why you fight weak enemies with weak items so that you can get weak items at the cost of weak items. The only time I use strong items to fight weak enemies is if I have too many strong items.
>>
>>381807460
The problem is that I feel that I'm not getting stronger. I heard gear has the greatest effect on damage but I can't get enough good gear. The lizards on the path to the zora domain wrecked my shit too
>>
>>381807594

Yeah, that's what I do. The clubs and shit I use it to kill bokoblins and the royal gear I reserve for lynels and moblins
>>
>>381807594
Yeah but like you said it gets to the point where your inventory consists of pretty much just high level items. Mid to late game is when I noticed that it wasn't worth fightibg really anything that wasn't a lynel, guardian, or strong lizalfos.
>>
>>381807719
If you are short of weapons try stealing from camps or using your runes to drop shit on enemies and make them drop their weapons
>>

Gah I'm bad at games.
>>
>>381808492
I just want to feel hyped for a game, then I could not stop myself from looking at more
>>
So do the gold varieties have any special gimmicks like new movesets and abilities? Or even new AI?
>>
>>381807719
There are times early in the game where it's best to just avoid fighting enemies. On the way to Zora's Domain, you're going to get wrecked by all the lizalfos with lighting arrows anyway because it's raining. So unless you really want to try fighting them, it's best to avoid them.

Use food and potions too when you can. Your gear only really gets good when you've upgraded it later in the game.

>>381808056
In the late game I'm less inclined to fight normal enemies, but I still do it anyway when I feel like fighting something. At that point you're so full of good weapons anyway it's no big deal to use them on weak enemies. Also if you want to upgrade your gear you need to fight weaker enemies anyway.
>>
>>381806959
Getting one/two-shot is normal.

From the puzzles, and gameplay design, all the way to the fuckin thunderblight ganon
>>
>>381815785
It shouldn't take much longer than the others if any time at all.
And it's much more interesting since you've actually got control of both the torso, backside, and neck. And controlling the centre can control the rest of the beast. It's great. Not to mention how electricity puzzles in BotW are pretty neat in general. And it's also the divine beast with the most verticality.
And finally, for what it's worth. Thunderblight Ganon is by far the best blight boss.

The bird on the other hand is mostly just a lot of gliding back and forth. Gliding and gliding.
>>

>>
>>381816948

>>
I think the biggest problem with the Divine Beasts is that they aren't anything like what the story tries to sell them as. From the way Old Man Exposition (or maybe Old Woman Exposition, I can't remember who monologued what) talked I expected giant, manned fortresses practically bleeding minions of Ganon as they moved wreaking havoc, and taking them down would consist of approaching them however possible, boarding them, fighting tooth and nail through waves of enemies while swashbuckling through this ancient technological wonder until finally killing Ganon's Blight and commandeering it.
Instead they're just sort of moseying on their own, not really doing much of anything because Ganon is suppressed or something. The Domains don't really seem to give a shit about them, nor the Beasts the Domains. They're completely cut off from the game world and have an invisible death pit, boarding them is a couple of cutscenes and a minigame. Then the no-character monologues and literally gives you blinking red lights to guide you through it, and there are virtually no enemies. They end by killing the pathetic Blight(s), and your reward is now Ganon is even easier than before. What a thrill.

On a semi-related note; Why doesn't the game world exist in a perpetual state of Blood Moon, only being slightly relieved of its diseased state when you... you know... defeat the Blights.
>>
>>381818024

Have you even played Zelda games before?
Let's take Ocarina of Time for instance. The vast majority of holes and caves only have bombs, arrows, or rupees, and possibly with some hearts or fairies if you're lucky. Only rarely, and I mean rarely. Did you ever find a treasure on the level of a heart piece.
A Link to the Past was the same. Most of the Zelda games are.

With a Shrine in Breath of the Wild you're at the very least guaranteed the equivalent of a heart piece.
Now I am not really shitting on the older games. They're amazing and I love them. But shitting on quantity over quality here is highly ironic.

Don't get me wrong, there is an implied impending doom, or sometimes there is an actual doom already occurring, it just doesn't feel that way, and nothing about the actual game world reflects it. Take Goron City ("City"), Vah Rudania is somehow terrorizing the Gorons of Death Mountain with volcanic eruptions. I don't know how, but that is seriously the plot. Anyway there is a Goron in the City who then tells you something along the lines of Rudania has been affecting their trade because they can't mine, and is possibly affecting their food source. Even if that were true, which it isn't because whoever wrote this game doesn't even understand what Gorons are beyond iconic imagery to sell a game with no atmosphere, nothing about the City or the Gorons reflects it. The houses aren't smoldering after being hit by flaming rocks, none of the 5 Gorons in the game seem to be hungry or distressed. If you were an average Goron on Death Mountain the rise and fall or even the success of Ganon might not even impact your daily routine.
What the actual fuck is up with this game's failure to build a cohesive world? It's like the people who wrote the game and designed the world were separated and never touched base with eachother about anything.

Really?

I don't think you are giving enough credit to the fear of the unknown. If you were just living your life and all of a sudden a giant evil glowing mecha lizard with the power to destroy your entire village with one rampage parked itself a mile away from your house you would be terrified too. And they know it's being controlled by Ganon who is the ultimate being of evil made manifest. So yeah I think they are allowed to say the feel fucking terrorized. You don't have to see cutscenes of people's firstborn children getting fucking slaughtered and women getting gutted left and right to get the point.

>>
>>381821454

Vah medoh
>how you would rank it with other zeldas
Top 3. I like it better than twilight princess but not as much as majora/windwaker. The open world was nice but the main quest was so sparse I can't believe how fast it ended

>God fuck my life it's so terrible why can't I have filet mignon and calamari every day????? :((
>>
>>381821841
None of the Gorons are terrified, that was one of my main complaints. In fact, nobody in Hyrule is. Everybody is completely ignorant of everything. People of Monsters, Monsters of People, Divine Beasts & Guardians of Villages, Ganon of being Antagonistic, Zelda of being Likable... the list goes on.
I think when your primary plot device is literally Calamity, and the only thing effected is a couple of buildings and a wooden wall, something got lost in translation. Yeah, it's a kid's game, we don't need to see baby gorons getting their heads caved in by smoldering boulders, but would it have killed to show Goron City in some state of crisis? Everything just looks status quo across the entire Kingdom. What is there even to save Hyrule from? The game world doesn't seem to care whether you help or not. It almost seems like you're fucking up their day just by bringing it up.

Anyone else think the ending was a bit... Disappointing?

Was there even that much of a buildup? I was more disappointing in the Memories than anything. Story-related, anyway.

>Walking through the game you see monsters terrorizing people all the time, you get rewarded for saving them
>In all four towns there are people who won't talk to you/give you quests because they're getting their day fucked up by the beast
>People constantly mention how worried they are and how dangerous just going outside is

I really don't see your problem. I mean there are places in the game that are pretty chill and safe, specifically that one stable where the chick says "This is the life, I could be here forever life is perfect" or something to that effect, but for the most part the threat is communicated rather well I feel. I don't even like this game but this is a non issue to me. Town in a crisis stats would mean no shops are open or NPCs are living there, there has to be a game to go with the story
>>
>>381822685
Hm? Nobody is an exaggeration, plenty of people say they are scared or complain about something
>>
>>381822685
It makes even less sense when there's fucking Guardians just roaming around near stables and no one says a word about it.
>>
>>381822630
If you had a bunch of perfect steaks right in front of you that you used to be able to eat but now cannot I suspect you would not be too happy about that

t. Regard who hasn't played the game

Guardians only target someone who has a shiekah slate
