What went wrong?
Everything. Namely procedural generation, but there is absolutely nothing redeeming about the game.
never automate content
it's fucking boring
Can I be FUCKING real for a second?
This community is fucking atrocious right now. You're all acting like a bunch of whiny, entitled little babies.
A tiny team of people made an entire universe for you to explore. They made it for YOU, and they're going to wake up tomorrow morning and see that instead of enjoying it, this community of "fans" picked out the 3 or 4 things that weren't perfect and are using that to fucking riot.
Guess what? The game was never going to be perfect. It was never going to live up to your hype. It was never going to be everything you'd ever want in a game.
What it WAS going to be was an impossibly big universe filled with mysteries and weird shit. I just played it for 2 hours and it was exactly that. What more do you want?
Is it buggy? Sure. Is it repetitive? Maybe. Is the inventory system imperfect and the multiplayer feature questionable and the structure unclear? Sure, fine.
But holy shit what do these people OWE YOU?
How fucking entitled do you have to be to explore an infinite universe in a spaceship and then say "yeah but..."
We should all be fucking weeping in our chairs right now at the sheer size and scale of the achievement. We should be showering the people behind this thing with the praise they deserve for pulling off one of the most inspiring games in recent memory.
Hello Games doesn't owe you the world. Yet they gave you 18 QUINTILLION of them.
If you have the fucking audacity to complain about it then you don't deserve it and you were never fans in the first place.
>>381747958
where did you cuntpaste this from, reddit or youtube?
Career McJobbers overestimating the value of their work.
Kids who never played Noctis IV and SpaceEngine expected something completely different from what the devs were really going for.
I enjoyed pirating it, it's the comfy exploration/survival game I expected it to be.
>>381747958
>Yet they gave you 18 QUINTILLION of them.
All of which are more boring than the real world, which is a hell of an achievement.

31:35.
Are they even updating this piece of shit anymore? I remember a few update coming out months ago but have not heard anything recently.
>>381747958
>Yet they gave you 18 QUINTILLION of them.
No, they gave you one and shuffled the pieces around a few times.
>>381747958
They shouldn't had made all those fucking promises about features that weren't even in the game.
>>381747958
They gave me 18 quintillion copy pasted planets with nothing to do but shoot rocks on them.
>>381747958
>mature-aged pasta
those were great times
>>381747958
You see Sean, you can't just say yes to every question related to the game and then not deliver. What did you expect when people realized half of what it was shown didn't even make it into the game?
>>381747123
Even ignoring all the lie stuff, they just failed on every level to make an entertaining game. It is clear that they went into the project aimlessly with no real design goals in mind. If they were actually competent developers they would have established a core gameplay loop with some actual fun value behind it before attempting anything else. Instead they just made a big empty space sandbox and at no point asked themselves what the point of it all was.
thanks for reminding me to reinstall space engine
>>381747958
Ahh yes the im a part of corporation kinda post defending a shit game
You know what else was procedurally generated
[/spoiler]SPORE
>>381748936
Spore at least gave you something for making it to the center of the Galaxy.
>>381748248
They still have plans of another update. A bunch of cassette tapes were sent out to some people by Hello Games and it's all a part of some meme ARG for the game to get people to buy it or some shit.
>>381747958
this pasta deserves a response
they owe me a shred of honesty
other companies will lie, but they usually have a thread of truth to their lies, yes even Todd Howard
Instead NMS fell flat in every regard
It's like they spent all their money building up their hype train, but didn't leave enough to finish the tracks
When the whole thing crashed, they went blackout mode in PR
>>381747123
they deliberately mislead their audience and still have done very little to deliver what they had been promising to deliver right up until release
>>381747958
I know it's a troll post, but they hyped it up with false promises and slapped a $60 price tag on it when it's a game worth $10 max. They do owe anyone who bought the game what was promised.
>>381747123
Hype
same will happen with scam games like star citizen which promises all and give nothing
>>381750030
I think you've got the wrong game
>>381750240
I did, mixed the threads.
I guess i need to sleep, its 2:08 AM, good night anon.
>>381747123
Oh man I just checked steam and they seriously still sell it for 60 eurobucks (60% sale atm so it's 24€). WTF are they thinking?
>>381747958
Sean pls leave
It had so much potential, it could have been great, and yet i actually enjoyed the game, pretty comfy just to walk around on seemingly endless planets.
It could still use a few more updates though...
>>381747958
I'm not reading that.
I waited and saw release gameplay of this game before I purchased it.
I was looking for a space game to fuck around in while watching TV/Youtube. Elite Dangerous is daunting to get into.
I got my moneys worth for the 45 hours or so I played. It's shallow as fuck, but I knew that. I was looking for something to put 10% of my brain into and see some cool shit.
That isn't a compliment towards the game, though. It was just what I was looking for at the time.
I only pirated the game after the pathfinder update
Survival mode was pretty fun the first few days but it eventually become very boring repetition about trying to get good shit out of RNG.
You can buy extremely big freighter ship but they require more money than I felt grinding.
>>381748213
>Dying during a cinematic
Holy shit my sides. This is so poorly made. Even AAA dudebro FPS games don't do this.
>>381747123
>>381750865
>ONIONS
Oh my god that's the most legitimately evil thing I've seen in months.
>>381747123
50 quintillion generated planets that are all equally dull
I would have preferred a dozen hand-crafted planets that are actually memorable
>>381750741
This screenshot reminded me.
The best moment I had in this game was when I jumped systems and randomly jumped into a multi-group conflict. Huge freighters, lots of pilot ships, it was a huge fucking fight. I panicked and peeled out of there. But that was one of the few cool moments I had in this game.
>>381747958
The reddit spacing elevates this bait beyond most.
what honestly baffles me is why the fuck would sony give these nobodies that much money in the first place, especially when these hack only made some shitty iphone game
>>381751304
Sony only paid for the publishing and advertising, not development.
>>381751035
When you help them you can get on board and ask the captain to buy the ship.
Hopefully they manage to improve it. I don't even know if they're still working on it.
>>381751304
It was a hyped game
Any company with sense would make the same deal. It SEEMED to be truly innovative and pushing the envelope. Of course you would want to try and claim that game to your system.
Even knowing what we all know now about the game, I would make that same marketing deal again. They got to tie NMS as an exclusive without actually paying for that right.
>>381751304
The next question is: Was Sony hurt by that deal? Did their reputation suffer? Not at all.
They sold a looooooot of copies day 1 on PS4 due to that marketing. It was a smart call, anon.
No man sky was the final nail on the 'procedural generation' meme.
I still play it
>>381747958
this shilling...
>>381751087
Is it not a post from reddit in the first place?
>>381750339
I think it still has potential
if devs keep releasing more and more updates

Everything. The idea was nice, but they didn't fully flush it out. I feel like their team was content with being mediocre with their direction; probably leaving things for the inevitable sequel. Lies, lies everywhere.
>>381747958
>you were never fans in the first place
It was a pile of garbage, flash-tier game, that was stillborn. If you like terrible games, then so be it, but don't berate others because they notice it's true value. I could get down with you if you realized the idea was great, but the game just didn't deliver.
