Modern gamers want "value" for their dollar and that equates to more hours per the dollar to complete the game their first time while not repeating content through game overs and being sent to the start of the game like older games. I never really got the hype for Cuphead. It's like the epitome of focusing on the wrong fucking aspects of a game. So much work has gone into the animation and yet the gameplay has always looked like dull shit, even before the platforming levels were announced. Just make a cartoon at this point shitheads.

Cuphead's problem is that it's well not reactive you just shoot weak beams bosses with no real feedback. When cartoons have exaggerated actions and reactions.

The boss fights look fun, but I can see a few problems that are a bit of a turn off:
>Constant shooting, annoying "pew" sounds which I hope aren't meant to represent a flickery effect
>No music variation between platforming levels, I'm guessing it only changes between worlds/areas (but it is really good music)
>No reward for defeating bosses (from what was shown), this can make it feel less rewarding
>Overworld feels like it could be improved on, not sure how
>Easy platforming stages + gunning emphasis + (potentially) difficult bosses = Redundant premise, as in it doesn't seem like it has a proper direction with the gameplay, just classical throwbacks.
If the platforming levels weren't linear, like having multiple paths, collectables that actually lead to special stages and including platforming gimmicks on each stage to make them special instead of the filler it looks like, the gameplay and entire purpose of using classic visuals would at least be clearly defined.
