Why watch strangers play a game? Why not just play it yourself? Even if you're really fucking bad at videogames just use a trainer or something.

Yeah why don't people play it themselves. Vidya is not like football you know, don't have to gather 20 friends or anything.

I mainly just watch tourneys and stuff since I hope I can learn something from pro players and improve my play.

Plus it's fun watching if it's a game I'm really interested in. That said, I have no idea how people watch e-sports games without ever playing the game. Shit must seem boring, but apparently people do just enjoy watching e-sports.

Aside from strategy games, speedruns, or competitive gaming, most of streaming is replaced by normies.

It used to be a tool to showcase games or playthrough games you could never play due to console differences, like flipping through television channels. Now there's longplays and no commentary videos all over Youtube.

I don't feel as though I'm wasting my life as much, because I can do menial tasks in the meantime like having lunch, highlighting reading material for school or exercise

I mostly play story driven games anyhow, so in my mind it's also good value for money so to speak - I get at least 70% of the enjoyment I would have got from playing the game but with a lot less effort

It's also good for console exclusives because yuropoor and no consoles ever
