I can't afford to build a PC that will outdo the Xbonx and I can't upgrade my phone regularly without shackling myself to a contract so why are these options seen as the superior platform by the ultra hardcore and ultra casual sets?

Here is a hard truth you need to come to grips with: consoles are not expensive.

It's just that the paid online fees and eventual half step upgrade for 500 dollars will run you more in the long run. A good pc that will match and outdo the xbox will run you 600 dollars. And in a few years all ANON has to do is buy a video card for 300-400 to completely blow up whatever console they put out

Console gaming was superior up until 7th gen when Sony and Microsoft started fucking things up. It's a joke now. Don't want to use Steam, but I don't want to continue with the clusterfuck that console gaming is now. I'm actually contemplating getting a different hobby, which is something I never thought I'd do
