I haven't played it years but I feel like even with a bunch of base building and new enemies you'd still find yourself bored after getting a big enough leveled up party to stomp everything. Which, mind you, really didn't take very long at all. So its like a few hours of learning game mechanics and after you understand everything it's like walking through a boring world with cheat codes turned on.

This game was the very first game to come out using the Early Access platform. I specifically remember it releasing alongside many others that have all turned into horrible failures and downright disgusting "take the money and run" cases. Yet for some reason this game, developed by a single dev, which didn't even have sound at the beginning of its builds, somehow is still being worked on instead of abandoned and has made HUGE progress over the years. Slow progress, yes, but huge compared to the first available build of it, which I distinctively remember playing. I have not played the game since way back then, but I commend the dev for his dedication to his project regardless.

I remember I though seeing it about five or six years ago thinking it's way TOO ambitious and that there is literally no way it's going to be anything but a complete pipe dream. I think it was started as a one-man project too, and it felt like an absolutely silly list of "everything awesome" that just cannot even begin working.

Seeing it making it this far, getting actually some favorable reviews, and not looking like absolute garbage is interesting. I'm gonna go do some research on it too.

The sci-fi aspect is there but it's mainly post apocalyptic scifi I dunno if guns are in yet or planned but so far the only ranged weapons are stationary turrets. The combat is mostly dice roll limb melee combat. I find it pretty fun and primarily it's a squad base building game. I think the limit is like 12 people to a squad? But you can mod that to ever living fuck

I was tired of having 1 vs 3 fights against guys that were superior to me in every way. I still want to go back to it but I don't wanna die in all those fights. Enlighten me mate. I have to admit is one of those games where if you don't make a right build you will get fucked no matter what.

However some runs are pretty engaging and not hard as nails, such as every strong character you make. Still, if you grasp the concepts you can still make every type of character such as the Loremaster run and deal with almost every fight.

When I played some basic tips were having some basic alchemy, just upgrade 1 weapon skill and not much more.

Thief class was hard as fuck tho.

then I went out and fucked up everything until I was left with just my main soldier alive

I haven't been keeping up with the development but the dev was moving pretty quickly
