I assumed even if they were meh they'd have some sort of replay value, but they didn't, it's a one-go game and then it's boring

I actually love the M&L series with it's minigames but Paper Jam's mixed aesthetics just bothered me.

3D Land is decent for a portable 3D Mario, but it started the whole "get to the Flagpole" thing so if that's not your speed, you may not like it.
In hindsight, it's hard to recommend 3DS Mario games since everything except Mario Golf has been rendered obsolete by later games(Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros U, even Color Splash is a step up from Sticker Star. Not a big step, mind you, but a step nonetheless)

Good game that gets hindered by the amount of tutorials and the forced gyro controls.

Dream Team generally keeps the original characters and settings previous games did, but it's constant tutorials and long Bro-Attack animations are a point of contention for some.
If you could put up with those two points, it might be worth a shot, especially because it calls back to earlier games like Superstar Saga Popple and Bowser's Inside Story in general.
