There's a lot of erotic comedies, a lot of erotic action, a lot of erotic drama, etc., etc., and yet nobody has ever been dumb enough to claim that's because they are intrinsically linked. People just like putting sex in their shit, doesn't mean a damn thing. If you ask Sam Raimi what he thinks horror is intrinsically linked to and he'll say it's comedy. Ask Guillermo Del Toro and it's fantasy and whimsy. This is just people's personal preference, nothing more, and I think it's very telling that most of the greatest horror has had pretty much no sexual content at all.
