I've avoided Persona threads when the game first released because I didn't have it yet, so I'm not sure what the general consensus here is, but I can agree to that for the most part.

Still have to beat the casino and everything else after that, and there are a handful of social links I haven't even had the opportunity to pursue yet, so opinions subject to change, but Makoto and Yusuke are definitely my favorite characters overall

Sae is a pushover even on Merciless and I've never run out of SP with Ryuji. Shido breaks makakarn and tetrakarn IIRC. It seems like more of a waste to spend like 4 different cycles through characters in order to buff everybody up when you could just knock it out on turn 1.

And why would you need to buff your healer if their defensive stats are mostly more than enough? I'd only give my healer a buff if they needed extra damage or to survive an attack from the boss. And Sukukaja can make or break a boss fight since there are many attacks were buffing and debuffing attack and defense and even using guard isn't enough to drop the damage.
