I make condescended kind of Let's Plays of retro horror games. A chronological video of a game's story intermixed with some commentary, so it's basically like watching a TV episode.

It's impossible to grow subscribers since the genre is too bloated. You either settle with 1k views and lower or hope one video goes viral.

One way of possibly getting viewers I heard of is waiting for a big stream to start to wind down and start up your stream before it finishes to hopefully get some people trickling in.
The thought of doing that sounds absolutely disgusting.

That doesn't work 99.999999% of the time because streamers do raids now, and have for the last 3 years. The best way to get a good viewership is to find a streamer you know will grow, and buddy up to them. Eventually set up a stream schedule to compliment theirs (right after or right before leading into it) and they'll spread the wealth and raid you. I grew into a partnership on paragon from doing that. I outgrew the guy who raided me all the time, too.
