X-men have always been bigger, more important and popular than the Avengers but Fox doesn't know how to handle the goldmine they have in their hands.

Back in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's it was all about the X-men. Nobody even cared about Iron Man or Captain America till the MCU because for a while they were the only decent superhero movies. But beside the MCU current Marvel sucks at everything else from comics to cartoons.

This is the roster selectable from the e3 demo. There are obvious missing people who are confirmed in the game but not on this list.

That said the actual roster is hot garbage.

I'm the kind of guy who bought MvC2, Tekken3 and not much else. Only (what I assume are) the "big hits" of each franchise. I also had PowerStone and SSBB but I'm not sure those count as fighting games. The ONLY exception of a non-mainstream fighting game I got was GGrev2 because it looked too good to not support and wet my feet in it a bit.

I don't care if MvC3 and MvCi play better than MvC2 before their music is completely forgettable, the UI makes me want to puke (or sleep) and the ugly-ass american comic book dark shading of 3 and "cinematic feel" of Infinite are both repulsive compared to 2. For casuals like me just that is enough. Not sure why the devs can't get it right for once when they already know what works.

A lot of players pick a character that they like and then master that character, they don't just play the strongest character in the game, otherwise you'd end up with every single player playing the top-tier character(s) in the game all the time.

How fucking out of touch can you possibly be? A good 70% of what your average player bases who they play on is the character themselves, then they make themselves learn that character.

They will have a limited roster because they want to do a subspace emmisary style story mode.
They probably have an idea of what kind of consistency they want with their games story mode, and thus figure a lot of characters probably wouldn't have much of a place in that story.

SO, any and all characters people probably want, will come much later when they don't have to do original voice recordings and shoehorn in characters into a story they don't know how to fit in.

If you bought Street Fighter Alpha 1, you're to blame. That game was a no-effort, no budget side project that was never intended to be a big seller.
