Probably because that's commonly acknowledged as objective fact.
It's literally and objective improvement over stick aiming. Gyro is capable of significantly finer movements than a shit tier analog stick. And has no speed cap. Pit somebody using a stick and somebody using stick/gyro against eachother in a shooter. The gyro player will dominate every round.

It's no mouse but it's an objective improvement over stick alone.

You can use a stick and gyro controls at once, just not vertically. So it's not 100% either or.

But it is more precise. Once you get used to it (there is a learning curve) you can use the gyro controls to make small adjustments when turning the camera with the analog stick. Vertical movement uses purely the gyro, but equally is much more effective than using analog stick. I have dozens of hours in the game, tried both control schemes but stuck with gyro since it let me aim more quickly than with just the sticks.
