Yes you should. Make sure it's Blue Rescue Team for the dual screen functionality. It's structured kind of differently though in that the story feels almost episodic like a Saturday morning cartoon. It's admittedly a little rough around the edges but it's not totally inferior to Explorers in my opinion.

Super would've been my favourite PMD, but the fucked up EXP balancing really bogged down the experience for me. The only way to get reasonable amounts of EXP was to use the three specified Pokemon, which were more often than not ones I don't like.

Expecting a shitty Pokémon-tier story, I went into this game in full self-insert mode. I was a Pikachu, this was my life now, anything to try and reclaim my old love for the franchise.

Already by the time you fight Groudon I was completely invested in it. When shit finally went down in the story, it became the single most intense experience I've ever received from a video game. It fundamentally changed my outlook on life.

I completed Wish Cave and Purity Forest for sure. The first time I completed Wish Cave I think I used Deoxys and I used Groudon for Purity Forest hilariously enough. I'm not too sure if I ever completed Joyous Tower though. I most likely did though.
