I stuck with one party (P4 Protag, Naoto, Chie, Kanji, P3 Protag, Aigis) the whole game and I found it pretty easy

Make sure you have both protags on your team. Fuse an incubus and give it to naoto. That lets her fire off insta kills with a higher chance of success, and eventually you'll be able to kill entire encounters for free since sub persona can easily cover the cost of the spell. Remember that in general, phys>magic, with instakill being the exception. Can't go wrong with both protags, kanji, aegis and junpei but as long as you don't use shitters like yosuke you'll be fine

Naoto is mandatory, get her Impure Reach ASAP (can be found on Incubus, boosts chance to inflict status effects AND insta-kills).

Both protagonists are very strong (but keep P3 in the back despite his weapon type, he's a pure mage).

Kanji is very strong, get him a Link attack, and as many Link boosting passives as you can find, and he'll be a beast.

Aigis makes for a great tank, she has all sorts of methods to limit the damage your party takes.

Grow a pair and go stomp some F.O.E.s.
