Are there any RPGs that have good stealth? I think the only RPGs with a rogue class that actually made me feel like a thief/assassin skulking around in the shadows are TES games, which still have bad stealth

The styx games are alright, but disappointing in a lot of ways. There is little actual progression, as in taking out dudes gives you nothing, and the only things to "steal" are items you don't need to use. So you'll explore a whole stage to find secret areas only to be told "YOU CANT CARRY ANYMORE" of every single thing in said room. In short, there's no reward for exploring and taking out people.

It's too bad 'cause I love the design of them, but I couldn't finish any of the games because of that junk.

My problem with stealth in top-down rpgs like that is that stealth never feels like you're actually hiding and so on, for example in nwn2 you just turn Hide mode on and the rest are dice rolls to check success or failure
As bad as Oblivion/Skyrim stealth might be, I like how it actually feels you're sneaking around
