No they created an engine that generates worlds when a player visits the system. And it does it in a very shitty way. There aren't 18 quintillion worlds stored on your computer or their server. Same as minecraft.

Procedural generation is making worlds in the same way they drank out bouncy balls, it's not exactly impressive and full honesty exploring sucks in this game. There ought to be something to find instead of more carbon and the same plants I saw two planets ago
