invisigun is a fun concept but I'd never buy dead on arrival indie games

making indie games that are almost entirely multiplayer based is fucking stupid, you have like less than a 1% chance of success and you need a lot of people to meme your game

it doesn't even matter if your idea is good because it WILL die out quick without a playerbase
>>
What are some non-hidden gems that everyone's already bought? My steam library is pretty scarce.

Everyone should buy Scanner Sombre if only to make Introversion know they're appreciated.

It's also actually a pretty neat game. especially in VR. Just short as hell.

DESYNC. It's a fast paced fps with a focus on style and scoring. The visuals are aids and it has that janky feel that indie 3D games often have, but it's a blast otherwise.

Is Dragon's Dogma worth a buy? I'm not sure how outdated that game is by now.
>>
Deadbolt its basically hotline Miami+gunpoint were you play as the grim reaper. Its fairly tricky my main complaint is its 7 bucks and I beat it in 3 hours when I beat hard mode it will probably jump to 6 and if I cared to get all achievements 10 hours. So if you like those games and you have dosh to spare pick it up. Hell if your really really good at games you may be able to beat it then refund it if thats your thing.

^ it is very fun but kinda buggy (middle market game made by the french). But it has an interesting world. Similar combat to the witcher but with more weapon options and the soundtrack has a very gems in it if you like Cyberpunk themed music.

Chernobyl. But to be honest if there's a bundle going it's worth picking up.

It's worth checking out some of the bundles anyway, especially if you've already got games in a set. https://steamdb.info/bundles/

Brigador devs are wasted talent, good artists, make nice concept, make a shitty pixel turd.

It sticks to a more traditional formula (lots of backtracking, respawn of enemies and all that jazz) than trying to do something of its own, artstyle and the music is great while the combat is okay at best, still pretty good game given the price.

The original game, being on DS, had two screens. The moment made use of that in a way you can't really reproduce on PC.

They tried, being that you have "two different screens" that you access with a button, but I honestly don't think it works nearly as well.

Still great games, mind you. I just don't think they're worth 50 bucks.

Not really. Those are the woes of prolific co-op players; my group of friends runs into the same problem constantly. Yesterday we all got Tabletop and had a fucking blast thou, hope it lasts for 200 hours.

I'll name some games I've played co-op and enjoyed:
Divinity Original Sin
Titan Quest
Grim Dawn
Torchlight 2
Europa Universalis 4 (ehhh)
Civilization
Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop
Castle Crashers
Clandestine
Dead Island
EDF 4.1
God Eater
Magicka
Risk of Rain
Saints Row
Killing Floor
Serious Sam
Typing of The Dead Overkill

It's alright, but it does have problems.

The graphics are bad, but they get the job done.

There are a ton of nations of pick from. While there are a few with really unique mechanics, most play similar with minor stat and graphical appearances.

However, if you're only going to play single player, it's a hard sale. The AI is terrible, and higher difficulties do the usual 4X thing of giving them more resources rather than making them smarter. Yet despite this, you can still kill them easily if you know what you're doing.

Devil Daggers is hit or miss, you either love it or hate it. I didn't like it.

Hollow Knight will take probably 25 hours or so to complete and maybe 30 to get to the point where you don't want to play anymore, whereas Darkest Dungeon you can easily put 150+ hours into the game. I prefer to have games that I'll replay on Steam, so I tend to pirate short indie titles, and purchase games I'll play for more than a few weeks so I can play between my laptop / desktop without problems.

/Just my useless 2 cents though

Not only does Grim Yawn have extremely boring and unaesthetic art style, it also has trash "multiplayer", a story line so damn boring and shitty, that one play through on normal is more than enough boredom, such a shit variety of builds and abilities (every class archetype plays exactly the same), and it also has a shit itemization system and limitations everywhere.

>>381666329
You can reset skill points for silver, but that doesn't matter at all, since the game uses a dual class system which you can't reset. If you end up not liking the combination you picked, you can't change your classes or main class, and you're stuck with a leveled trash character in this mind numbingly boring game. Guess what anon? If you want a new character with different classes, you have to level all the way back up again and go through the tedious boring story line.

You're the one getting triggered because of my opinion. You haven't even given an argument to why the game is good, or any refute to the points I made. Why are Grim Yawn shills so hypocritical? You say you agree that people are allowed to have different opinions, yet you get mad at me for saying the truth about your game.

Brigador is objectively one of the greatest isometric games ever made.

I feel like it could be a lot better with sort of a Mechwarrior 3 style campaign mode where you salvage stuff and unlock parts and can equip your mechs with more than 4 guns (maybe use firing modes and stuff to fir 2 at a time per mouseclick or something), and if the TTK was slower for enemies and for you.

Also, if it had a 'map' sort of like a FTL or Outrun style choose your next level thing, on top of a planet from, say, Shattered Steel
>>
>>381666397
>DD

Which one were you referring to?
>>
>>381661551

its a different kind of game.

grim dawn / titan quest / victor vran are more like a different direction on diablo, very playable single player.

poe is very much a multiplayer-only, huge improvement on diablo 2's multiplayer...

Maybe you should look for a different website, if you dislike discussion. Also if you have no arguments and gain nothing from discussion, then don't reply. The only one mad here is you, lashing out at me for not liking your game. I'm just saving anon his money, hence why I told him to pirate it and see if likes it himself, because chances are he wont.

I'm sorry your sales and publicity are so bad, maybe if you made the game less shit, people would start liking it.

>>381666946
Just wanna say that this is completely correct, the amount of love grim dawn gets is insane, the game is complete fucking shit.
The balance is fucked with some builds literally being unable to die and killing everything in one hit, the plot sucks, the world is generic as fuck, there isn't a single memorable npc or boss, the models and textures are extremely low quality and the animations are literally the worst I've ever seen in the genre.
It's literally worse than titan quest, at least that game was good when it came out, was based on greek mythos so their writers didn't get to make everything boring as fuck and the idea of combining two classes and leveling the class level to access higher level abilities was something new.
Grim dawn is just titan quest with worse balance, story, atmosphere, and visuals stuck in 2006.

A game can be "objectively one of the greatest isometric games ever made" and still be complete shit.

Isometric projection is also objectively a terrible projection for anything involving elevation and causes distortion of distant objects. Both of which are terrible for a shooter involving obstacles and cover, but fuck logic man, I gotta get that SEGA nostalgia allllllllllll the way up your ass.

I'd say that it would be ideal to start with 1, only because it's the only of the 3 to not start you out with being able to teleport everywhere, which leads to the environment being much better thought out, and it actually puts some weight behind which direction you want to go, because it's not always so easy to get back. But if you really don't feel like spending the money than Dark Souls 2 isn't a bad starting point. I wouldn't recommend starting with 3 though as it has a lot of callbacks to the first game.

Northgard is pretty good and unique, but it's a more short-session game, you expand, you build, you get your (small) army going and you kill your enemies, or end the game with one of the other win conditions while defending, average game takes around 30-40 minutes i'd say.
Stoneheart has a building designer which is fun to fuck around with and lets you create really nice looking villages and your guys class system is pretty interesting, reminds me of Cultures where you have to make a dude hunt animals for a while so he can become a tailor later etc, but it's pretty raw and buggy, I'd recommend pirating it for now and only buying it if it ever gets finished.

I think you'll enjoy it, though there's nothing about DaS that really aged badly. If you can't buy it without a sale then go ahead, playing DaS3 while everything is still fresh will probably do you good, but I don't know if you'll enjoy the earlier titles after you're done with this one.

They added multicrew. Which means you can take away from the pilot's weapons and control them with an awful camera. And no, you can't really explore shit, as there's nothing to actually explore.
>>
>>381671031
Can you point out some examples? The only parts of the story that were bullshit to me was how Buddy had a child at the end, and how if you choose to hold on to Rando, a joy mutant randomly comes by and attacks only the guy trying to molest buddy. All of the other stupid shit she did was due to the effects of joy magnifying her daddy issues.

>>381672067
I don't really have the energy or interest to argue this out, been out of the loop for too long. I just didn't like the edgy rampage Buddy went on, how the world seemed to exist just to enable her tantrum, how Rando was treated like shit and left to die for no reason other than to spite the player knowing full well he's a fan favorite. Hint Village felt like pure pandering, and the final "dream sequence" fight against Brad was a totally cheap, hamfisted way to tug on your heartstrings
I just didn't like it, it was badly excecuted
>>381672247
I'm not an expert on the Series but Origins is chronologically first, really easy to just jump into and play, but still gets the essence of Ys combat right.

Used to play it on PSP

Very nice
>>
>>381671880
I'd say it's because it's almost unknown and was badly advertised. Also small weird games are sometimes viewed as pretentious by some and they don't give them a chance.
>>
>>381658274
I second this.

I recommend this

The PSP remake is also on steam, and cheaper, but its a buggy piece of shit and inferior to the original.

There's a game I love that's not well known called Wuppo, it's like a platformer with slight bullet hell elements. I enjoy the writing and the characters, and how the game doesn't hold your hand and tell you what to do, you have to figure most things out on your own by being observant. Plus the characters are fucking adorable.

I haven't played the remaster but it should be bugfree and since the original is truly great and among my favorite games of all time, outside of maybe a few dodgy puzzles, you'll have a good time with it. Just don't consult guides even the most nonsensical puzzles aren't hard (or use UHSHints if you must).

This desu
Bought it a while ago and its really good, but has insane hardware requirements for what it is
It basically runs in a chromium fork and is entirely developed in HTML5, which causes it to use more of my CPU than most AAA games
The game itself is 350MB, but it takes almost 2GB of RAM
Will be finished in early to mid 2018
