as you're probably aware, there's a cartoon currently running on CN called Steven Universe

in it, a kid named Steven has adventures with magic gem aliens named after their gen type

the main gems with the boy are named Pearl, Amethyst, Ruby, and Sapphire

based on the time this game came out, how old the producer for the show is, and the near perfect similarity to the menu here, it's a very real possibility that the names for the characters in the show were derived from Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 chao races (there are races in the second game called topaz and garnet among others, who are ALSO characters in the show)
