Federation Force was string-theory backgammon. Only the most autistic Metroid-fan would buy it and actually do all the missions in order to unlock the secret ending, which teased Prime 4.

Too bad matches usually delved into 420sniperfaggot Traceplayers (especially on the map with the giant lift-thing essentially giving said Trace players a free kill), Sylux players who only played in the ball-mode and constantly circling players to instantly lock-jaw them to oblivion, and the rocket explosion glitch that let you hide in walls on (a?) certain map(s?).

Also the head model hitbox was a bit off; it was somewhere near the neck.

Well they are from different planets from all around the galaxy so it is justified that they are so different.

But yeah, they make Samus look kinda old and busted.

1 was the only good Metroid Prime game. 2 had nice ideas but the dark world was just bad all around and 3 never honestly felt like a Metroid game even more so than Fusion.

The problem was the timing. Five years after the last (very poorly received) game is not the time to announce a spin-off that nobody wanted.
I guarantee you if Federation Force had been announced sometime after Samus Returns and Prime 4 then just about nobody would be complaining. It might even have sold decently by riding on some of the hype for the other two games.

I just finished it last night and it was alright enough for something I pirated. The cart pushing mission and flying orb gathering mission are both fucking abysmal and whoever thought designing those missions like that, even for a solo player, should consider quitting the industry. They're probably alright with a group, but who the fuck even wants to play FF? Solo or nothing, now. The giant beetle boss was shit, and making the final boss into fucking Blast Ball was the single most retarded thing in the entire game, which is really saying something. I mean I fucking spent the time to beat the game, but I'm glad I didn't spend money on it. It was mostly ok, but when it was shit, it was really shit.

If it's being done by a Japan studio then color me worried. Other M was so godawfully bad that I'm convinced that the Japanese just don't understand 3D Metroid.

I'm worried that Retro Studios aren't the ones making it. They haven't made a single bad game, so I could relax if they were the ones doing Prime 4. I hope whatever the new studio is does a good job. If Prime 4 is good I'll get a switch just to play it.

If all these Sylux teasers at the end of Prime 3 and Federation Force are any indication, he'll probably be central to Prime 4. Play Hunters to see where he originated if you want, but the lack of backstory for him and a pretty bland single player means you really don't have to. Play to see what he's like from a gameplay perspective if you're interested. I'm not sure if I'd suggest playing Federation Force or not. Some of it is frankly not fun solo and it's mediocre otherwise. From some interviews it sounds like Tanabe wanted to make a Galactic Federation game to lead up to Prime 4, and this is it. Other than that, just Metroid 1/Zero Mission comes before the Prime series, and they're pretty much all taken in release order. Go nuts.

How would you react if Sylux was revealed to be a woman? How would you react if her and Samus fought out of their power suits while they recharged?
