Consider the fact that all the moves in Tekken are just rag doll animations and most of the cast shares many animations.
Not to mention all of them are recycled from previous tekken games.
Like 90% of all combos that worked in Teken tag 2 or Tekken 6 Tekken 5 also work in Tekken 7.

SFV on the other hand went out of its way to literally re imagine and re animate every single character in the game.
Even mostly unchanged characters such as Chun Cammy and Ryu got so many new moves and re animated old ones.

Tekken is BY FAR the most repetitive mainstream fighter. every match is the same, regardless of character:

kbd, kbd, kbd, poke into launcher, loooong juggle combo. rinse, repeat.

I hate sf4 and 5, but at least shotos, grapplers, gimmick and speed characters lead to unique matches.

Not really. Every character has about 15 things you should worry about and fall under archetypes.

To be fair he is half right.

Tekken has an entire buffer system.
You dont need timing to do most combos in tekken.
Its just pressing the buttons in the right order wo any regard for timing.
Althou exceptions do exist.

Granted in other fighters you do the same thing but in those games timing is more important and you also have to manage meter gain and in anime and vs fighters you also have to manage Arial movement.

Depends on the character though. Mishimas, Lee and some others need tight as fuck execution to be useful. Most characters also have very useful moves locked behind semi-tight execution.

I like how half of all Tekken 7 treads are people comparing it to SFV.

Maybe your game is not so great if you consonantly have to compare it to another game instead of parsing it on its own merits.


Also news flash.

Tekken 7 has just as many if not less SP game modes than SFV.

It has 5 Battle Arcade mode that has no ending cut scenes like in the older tekken games and a piss easy final boss.
Treasure battle which is just endless arcade.
Story mode + Short characters episodes.
And Training mode.

SFV has

Survival
Trial mode
Story mode + Short character episodes (that have more story in them than tekken 7)
Vs CPU
Training mode.


And before you start calling me a Capcom fanboy.
I admit SFV has a shit ton of problems.
But Tekkn 7 isn't any better in this regard.
Hell it takes me less time to acualy find matches in SFV right now than tekken 7.
And the delay based net code makes playing the game vs low attack spammers nearly impossible at anything under 4 bars.

I am not a T7 specialist, but I am pretty sure you can't buffer directions.
If you want to do Pauls deathfist you gotta input the quater circle after the recovery of your last move ended. SFV for example stores direction inputs for quite some time depending on the move(super stores inputs for almost 1 1/2 seconds).
Is there really a buffer mechaning in T7?

You can buffer special input moves in tekken.
But true you cant input special movements.
SF is mostly special moves so its not realy buffering directional moment but special moves although some charters can buffer jump cancels.
