Nintendo's failure was NOT to make contracts with multiple 3rd party developers, and NOT allow diverse (in genre, you fucks) games. Sony's success was ensuring a steady wave of ports, good relationship with 3rd party developers, and publishing of tons of 3rd party games.

While I had say 50 GCN titles and my PS2 library got nowhere near as expansive, what games I did have were fantastic, or most of them anyways. I remember shunning the fuck out of Microsoft though because I was still bitter about Sega dropping out of the console market. Funny thing is despite PS3 being my goto system last generation, I've mostly sided with the Wii U and Switch and hardly play my PS4.

The GameCube has a few dozen truly great games, and plenty of decent ones on top. If you are autistic enough to include games like FFX or Ace Combat in your assessment of "easily 100", then yes, PS2 wins by default, because autism is difficult to argue against. In reality, the vast majority of games in the PS2 library are actual shovelware, and even the "good" games like God of War and Ratchet & Clank are a sad imitation of better games available on GameCube. I have to question exactly just how retarded one has to be to enjoy the utter tripe on PS2 when you could be playing games like Metroid Prime or F-Zero GX.
