Is this game really that bad?

it's bad as a Silent Hill game

it's also bad on its own merits as a horror game, not to mention that you should probably play this with a guide if you do; not because it's difficult, but because it's littered with fatal bugs which either crash your game or kill the questline because a door isn't opening where it should, or some key item goes missing

also if you're one of those people who play invert-y, then you're shit out of luck. Oddly enough they allow inverted controls when you're aiming a gun, but not when moving the camera around the player. Fuck the Collective, bunch of twats

By far the worst "Silent Hill" title.
Quotes because it's SH in name only.
Even on its own merits, it's still not very good.

Not that bad. It's better than a bunch of shit today.

Oh and the boss fights were quite decent.

It's silent hill origins gameplay slightly improved with the typical dumb ass hit plot from any silent hill game.
The monster deigns specially the bosses are great.
