poison is a ballbuster, there is only ONE new giant apparently (Sealnado), gold is sparse, hurricane and monsoon season are pretty damn similar, exploring the map is a motherfucker because there is so much fog of war to clear up, and some new items or mechanics (mussels, wobsters, jellyfish, wrecked ships) seem to just not at all be worth your investment of time and effort

but the worst part BY FAR are the FUCKING MONKEYS. If you walk by one a little too close he'll follow you to your base and pick up any random shit you have laying around. I know chests are a necessity anyways, but its just annoying.

I'm on day 135 or so on my current shipwrecked run. I mean it is fun and I have had fun exploring and really making a cool base, but so much of the map is still unexplored and I have basically no more reliable gold so I'm gonna have to just sail around for days to reveal the map and hopefully find more than the small sandy islands with nothing but palm trees and grass that are the majority of islands I've found.

You can go into the map settings before every game and customize spawn rates/frequency for literally EVERYTHING including the giants. Hell you can even turn off certain enemies including certain giants from appearing every season, sometimes, or never.

I don't think Don't Starve requires intelligence to play, it's a good game that will have you suffer but once you learn the ropes and know what to look out for (i.e. Giants and seasonal changes) you're good to go

DST ANR was shit, only boss worth killing is Bee Queen and they focused too much on raids and decor shit.
Fighting is the worst aspect of this game and it gets boring pretty fast. I had to join servers during winter/spring/summer to have at least small amount of challenge and fun.

Wilson is the gold standard for characters, wolfgang is arguably the best character in the game for pretty much everything except resource gathering, which Maxwell is the best at, and WX-78 (which is technically a robot but looks like a guy anyway) is up there too. Wigfrid's just a shitty discount wolfgang, wendy's unique and fun but just sort of bad, Willow is awful, Wicker is pretty fucking great for resource gathering and tentacle traps but you'll only ever need one max, whereas you can never have enough wolfgangs or Wilson.

If you want to try defeat wolves you can just wear wood armor and solo them easy with a spear. Running to beefalo if you don't have those options are also good .

You should have the location of your future base by day 10, and it should be pretty much serviceable by day 15/16.

what i mean by 'serviceable' is

>fire pit
>1 or 2 crockpots
>chests
>fridge
>drying rack or two

spend the last days before winter gathering food and raw materials. make sure you craft appropriate winter gear before it starts. having a nearby 'special' resource (like spiders for webs, beefalo for fur or meat, the thunder goats for meat as well, beehives, pigmen or merm settlements that you can farm for meat, etc) is highly recommended. you can eventually relocate them to your base, or even do it in the first season before winter once you get the hang of things.

being located next to a wormhole is also a high priority for me.

This was the same for me, I was actually somewhat scared of combat and used Wendy for the longest of times. Until one day I just went with Wigfried, a character that intimidated me the most as she can only eat meaty meals. But it turns out she is probably the most easy mode character after all. With her starting gear getting food is no problem and it's so cheap to craft, I'm always running around with super armor and a better than average spear. Shit's pretty cash. Protip for Wigfried: settle near the desert so you can easily farm Hounds for their meat

but then again i'm a complete sucker for tropical island themes in games so I might be a little more lenient than others would. although at only $3.50 on steam right now, I think it's a great pickup.

other videos you might find are videos of people beating it in DST where it IS actually possible because of how in it it stops being enraged after a while in the rain and it's constantly in a setpiece in the desert ,which means you can fight it outside of summer, eliminating the threat of overheating

don't starve is a singleplayer experience which means it's actually playable solo (less boss and mob hp, etc)
but sadly it has little ammount of content compared to dst, mainly because dst has everything that don't starve has plus the things that are based around COOP

i can't enjoy dst (which i luckily got for free for being an alpha veteran) but i do enjoy ds alot
also from what i know there are mods that add the content of together for regular ds but scaled down for singleplayer
