Should I buy Fairy Fencer F or Tales of Zestiria?

FFF on PS3 is an incomplete beta test compared to ADF which was enjoyable but also way too long and also an incomplete game.

Zestiria is so fucking awful that it needed Berseria to make it better retroactively, and I would say the anime was better but they dropped the ball in the second season.

Save your money. Pirate both.

Tales of Zestiria is a terrible game that no one should ever think of buying. Fairy Fencer F sounded like it was one of the few good games that Compile Heart has made, so I actually got that during this sale. Even if it's not as good as it sounded, I doubt FFF can be as bad as Zestiria. Also, get the Dark Advent version of it since it's like double the game of the original.

I like both, but use caution for FFF given it's still a CH game and many are not okay with what they do in general.

I also never got the hate for Zestiria. My ONLY complain is camera angles during combat. And I guess the Alisha DLC at most, but I never really cared about Alisha and actually prefer Rose.

The combat is kind of fun, but the bosses are kind of unbalanced. There's also a retarded MC, so if you can get past those, you might be able to enjoy the games.

It's definitely better than you'd expect, and you might even feel something towards one of the character.
Victory 2 is probably the best there is out right now, I got so goddamn attached to Uzume. She's real cool.

But they do this awful thing where every scene has to have some joke payoff or an emotional pull to it, so it gets a little tiring trying to keep up, also it doesn't matter what kind of mood the scene has, Neptune will always ruin it. Always. She's the kind of character you never want to see sad ever. Because it just feels wrong.

Seems reminiscent of other Tales games but I've only played a handful of them, most of them early games.

I liked Beseria's cast but the story had a poor third act. Velvet reverting back to her early game self was a little jarring for me after she spent most of the game warming up to the party. Zestiria supposedly lies in the same world which is why I'm wondering if I should play it.

As a longtime big Tales fan, I'd recommend FFF Dark Advent over Zestiria any day. FFF is easily Compile Hearts' best game, with lots of content and just more fun in general. Zestiria is pretty poopy for a Tales game, and feels waaaayyyy incomplete.

If you want to experience the Zestiria story, just watch the anime. Zestiria as a game is bad. Zestiria as a story is bad. The anime removes the game part of it and tries to fix the story, so it's automatically better than the game.

Speaking of Tales, I pirated Berseria and the game literally won't start. The exe runs for a couple of seconds then disappears from the task manager. I've tried installing the distros, I've tried compatibility settings and admin, what the hell am I meant to do?
