Play the free trial and decide for yourself. You can play for as long you want, but can't level pass 35. Personally I think it's alot of fun. Not very grind heavy and has good class variety.

Getting your main class to max level is easy. I literally never grind, just do daily roullettes and MSQ and I'm almost level 70. Roullettes give you bonus exp every day, and if you log out in a town you get bonus rested exp, which makes leveling even faster than it already is.

Now, if you want to level more than one class or god forbid crafting/gathering classes, I hope you've got a good podcast to listen to. I reccomend the Joe Rogan Experience.

After playing for a week and have beend the EX Primals as well, I honestly think Monk isn't auto-shed tier anymore. There is only one melee that surpasses it in damage and that's SAM, NIN and MNK are on par with Monk edging an little more than NIN (just a smudge).

The updates are poor (used to be a lot better but not anymore) and the game is boring, endgame revolves doing the same few things over and over and over again. PVP is a mess, combat is terrible, content is extrememly bad and most of the models in the game are direct rips from another title I played when I was a kid (ffxi)

It's crap. The only reason to play this game is to cyber with other men pretending to be women, and if you want to do that there are plenty of f2p games that offer it just as well.

Seemed to me like that's kind of what they were going for. That there were barely any people left after the empire conscripted or executed most of them. They killed entire families for basically no reason at all. It was a country of very few remnants that faced the threat of complete extermination on a daily basis. Zenos and Yosutyu ruled like that. Gaius seemed to be the only one interested in keeping people alive to be imperial subjects rather than just corpses and he's been out of the game for a long time.

While I agree that it was a little weird that everything was a-okay after taking the castle, the amount of people in Doma seemed appropriate and helped sell the desperation.

FF14 is a good MMO because it's not addicting but it'll make you want to come back to it every now and then to do the new content. But trying to play it like a usual grindy MMO that you sub for months on end is literally impossible unless you're some mega autist. You're always stuck grinding 2 dungeons for months, 1 time a day about 4-5 times a week before you hit the weekly cap on the currency needed to buy the gear you want. But there's no real payoff to getting good gear either unless you're in the 1% of hardcore raiders.

Max level is now 70 and going from 1-70 which is 2(3ish if you count ARR) expansions and all it we are looking at 80 hours of just game. Its story gets really good after a certain with some dips but when it wants it Final Fantasy first then MMO.

So now that umbral hearts reduce flare mp cost and it's possible to cast two flares with mp to spare, is it better to go fire2-fire2-flare-flare or just straight up skip to flare-flare? Flare doesn't give a fuck about how many umbral hearts are left, so as long as one umbral heart is there you can cast a second flare right after, but fire2 feels weak.

Also foul is pretty good. I didn't expect much from it since it's not an explosion, but it hits 15-22k easy with just af3 gear.

It's obviously not top quality, and your reasons stated are still very true and I agree, especially with the cash shop (and the stingy jews not extending our subs for the lost 4 days of server migration + 3 literally-unplayable early access days) but in FF if you don't expect laziness on mobs you don't know the series. It's easier now that they share a uniform model engine at least, they even imported FFXI's Shantotto a couple years ago too, they imported Lightning's ugly-ass skinny-knee'd crackwhore model, and they're porting between XIV and Mobius like it's nothing, but that shows a mix of laziness but also clever/resourcefulness that lets them do work elsewhere.

The number of imported models isn't that bad, and generally cherrypicked, it's not like they're not adding new ones too.

FATES haven't been the main leveling method for a really long time now. Potd and roulettes are far superior. FATES are nice if you want to take a break from running potd.
