Newbie hunter here. Can confirm that Gore was indeed hard at first, so was Yian Garuga, but I could do it, even if it took time and a good amount of tries. However the most difficult monster I'm currently facing is the Silver Rathalos. It's odd considering the stuff I faced before and even through attacking his weak spots, it still feels like I haven't made a dent. It can go into anger mode and last for a good bit. Then there's the occasional lock-on poison talon attack and you cannot fuck that dodge up if you don't have a shield, enough health, or both. If you ask me, I'd say he's the definitive casual filter. Or I'm just a reckless idiot.

A lot of people find Silver Rathalos annoying to fight because it practically embodies what people find annoying about the original and ramps it up. That and in MH4U you're stuck with the Tower map that has a lot of tiny ledges in the way. Also, Rathalos subspecies have their hitzones shuffle around, so while his head isn't an overly favorable spot for a lot of the fight Silver Rathalos is a bit more weird in that his wings are a lot more vulnerable against either type of melee damage, even impact, and I'm not sure how well-known this actually is.
