I remember getting this along with Pocket Fighter. After reading a magazine that reviewed the latter an 8/10 and the former a 2/10.

Hugo was actually featured on many childrens' shows across European countries, usually as a phone-in competition. In the UK we saw it as part of the "What's Up Doc" show, something on ITV in the mid-90's that archived Looney Tunes shorts and previewed contemporary videogames. For the longest time I thought I had misremembered or made up that show name but it was a real programme, and kids had to shout the number on a keypad that would correspond to the little gremlin's ingame movement.

Imagine how compelling that level of control would be in an actual PSone game. It wasn't exactly Metal Gear Solid.
