Hazy Maze Cave, I always thought that it was a cool stage with a lot to it. It was fun to explore. Tall Tall Mountain was also really good.

No half A-presses allowed there. That alone made Tick Tock Clock the best world.

What're you talking about? SM64 is the platformer just about every game within that same genre aims and fails to be. It's influence among developers is more than just noteable, and that with people who don't even work on platformers.
>>
>>381615204
If by aims and fails to be you mean the collectathon misconception, yeah. Very few 3D platformers toyed with acrobatic-based platforming, let alone momentum.

Does anyone know how long was the development time for super mario 64?

Are you fucking retarded?

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure it started in 1993, with Mario 64 always planned as a launch title.

The whole game got scrapped about a year before the 64 launch because the team decided it wasn't fun. The Bowser stages are all remnants of the former level design. Everything else was basically cranked out in the months leading to launch since they refused to back down on the established launch date and simultaneous release.

What are you on about?

You played the game in 1999, around the same time and age as me.
>>
>>381616331
I'll believe it. If true, that means one of the greatest platformers ever was developed in a few months.
>>
>>381616331
Interesting if true. 3D World might have been a what-if case after all. Good thing they scrapped it.

Its actually pretty cool how they look like captain toad diorama levels. I think the development team talked about in an interview how one of the early version of mario 64 played out with the camera being rotated around the stage similar to captain toad at one point.
>>
Why do all the Mario 64 romhacks sucks balls?
>>
>>381616331
interesting factoid #37373

the oot master quest dungeons are the original dungeon designs before miyamoto chimped out and flipped the dinner table and were designed by the mario 64 team
>>
>>381616667
Because Mario 64's levels were designed very carefully around the camera. Hacks like Last Impact are technically impressive but suck to play because they don't have the quality of the original games level design.
