If they wanted to tell a story focusing on Samus' fear of Ridley, make it a prequel. The Mom theme is clearly tacked onto the plot and doesn't add anything

The big problem is literally all of the elements of the story in this game are just moot. No matter what happens we're back in Fusion, anything could've happened as long as it didn't contradict

The gameplay clearly has some potential, but the fact this is the one game whose story has ruined its reputation shows that needed work. Also holy fuck the Varia Suit design is so bad in Other M, I hate it so much

Pretty much redo the majority of the game over. A lot of general game mechanic changes would have gone a long way. Anyone could probably make a long list covering this aspect. Missiles should not have been tied to standing still in first person mode. Along with missiles, the concentration mechanic should not have been implemented. It reduces the need for a player to find missile expansions or to kill enemies for on-field refills.

I didn't want to mention the story at first, but I kind of have to since it is tied in to the game mechanics. Ignoring its purpose in the story, authorization hurt the game. The feeling it creates is annoying because there are some places or expansions that you want to reach, but can't get to it not because you don't have the tool needed to reach it, but because you actually do have the tool on your person and the game refuses you access to it to fall in line with the story. In most people's minds, if you have something that can help you, you would use it, but you were shut down by the story.

One aspect they actually need to add is music. It was disappointing to hear a lack of a soundtrack throughout most of the game. When Nightmare showed up, I was expecting some remixed version of his theme from Fusion, but they didn't do that or even give him a unique theme. They just left him bland along with the other parts of the game aside from Ridley. Before the post gets too inflated too, the models need a rework. All of the armor, both the Federation's armor and Samus's armor, look cheap. It has nothing to do with needing to be realistic, but rather having an impact in presentation. Compare the Other M federation armor to the ones from Echoes. There's a world of difference even if the Echoes federation armor is simple in design. The worst offender of anything is Samus's arm cannon being puny.

Other M was a lost cause (just like Star Fox Zero).
