It's pretty fun. Some dodgy dialogue at times but other than that it's a solid game.

OP here, should I pay up for the gold edition? Do I need to buy crowns to get the best experience? or would a sub be better?

Basically I wanna know if its a game I can play for free and still enjoy or do I literally need to pay to get the experience

If you plan to craft and shit just do the subscription for a month and see how you like it. You get free crowns every month and a bag of infinite space for crafting items. Also all the DLC except morrowind(expansion) are free.

you most certainly can enjoy without any of DLC-the world is extremely big and there are a lot of quest most of them much better than in skyrim. Some DLCs have some nice zones for leveling, some DLCs help you make money much faster and you dont need all of them just make your pick.

Just buy the game, it isn't much. Play for a while and if you like it you can consider subscribing (which unlocks all the DLC apart from the Morrowind expansion), or you can buy the DLC for money or for Crowns. You also get 1500 crowns a month when you sub. I sub and spend my crowns on cosmetic stuff.

I love the game, been playing since it's console release. Just gets better and better every patch

It's still extremely buggy and most the content is broken as soon as they release it. It was ok for a couple years there but you're definitely coming into it at a shitty time. They nerfd damn near everything and combat is lame as fuck now. I would recommend finding a different mmo right now.

If I buy the game on PC does my account transfer to console? Or am I forced to buy it twice?

I think you can transfer an account from PC to console but you'd have to buy it again. I would not get this for console though. It runs at like 5fps half the time.

I play it if my friends are playing it, I'm a higher level than them because when it came out I went on an adderall binge and played it for like 60 hours over the course of a week. Granted any video game is amazing on adderall.
I've since stopped taking it because my dealer moved like a year ago and I felt that was a good time to stop instead of find a new one, shit gets pretty addictive.

They release the content in a broken state. Battle grounds and Morrowind went live broken. The older content is pretty solid though. Give the base game a shot.
