I'm paraphrasing another anon here, and I actually agree with many parts of the story falling short, and the stuff I listed above can easily fly over your head the first time you play it before getting ending E, but all these things converge at the ending.

Where we as players have the choice, as actual humans, to decide NOT to do this stupid tribalistic shit for brainlets, and come together and help each other beat the game.

I deleted my save so that people might not appreciate such things can finish the game. The game basically tells you that people are going to be shitposting and not get it anyways. It's unironically one of the most legitmately humanistic and progressive things I've seen a game do.

Ending E is fine thematically but I just... don't care. I was expecting some mindblowing finale for our characters but instead I got a pod doing a similar internet-browser-tier flash game that I had been doing for the past 20 hours, while the game broke the 4th wall for some reason.
I understand the ending but I just don't get all the fuss about it. Provide commentary on interactive mediums and how they can make us feel things all you fucking want, but at least tell a story too. Ending E just came out of nowhere for me and I didn't feel any kind of impact from it.

Did you not read the OP? This whole thread is about peoples gripes with the game. I don't go into legitimate Nier threads and shitpost all day, I've started my own or contributed to threads like this with my own thoughts.
