A practical effect, even when not good, will always look better because it's there. It happened. It's tangible.

District 9, on a budget of 30 million dollars, still has some of the best CG of the past decade. Because it was shot well and used in the right way. To aid the film. Not just a lazy shot because you don't want to do it the old fashioned way.

If you think the idea of taking walks and occasionally stopping to grab pokemon/goodies is appealing, then it might be some fun. If you're expecting something even remotely resembling the gameplay of an actual pokemon game then you'll be sorely disappointed.
